That'd be a great campaign slogan: The Liberal Party of Canada - making the Conservatives look good for years!

True!

I have guys at work that make me look good by being so incompetent. It's the same theory at work here with the Libs making the CPC look good!

There might be, should be, some blow ups and changes in Ottawa. This could be entertaining. Actually both Ignatieff and Harper should quit. Harper just doesn't resonate with the electorate. Try Black Pete.

HyperionTheEvil HyperionTheEvil:
ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
They shifted too far to the left. People don't want the NDP in power nor do they want NDP Lite, which is essentially what the Liberals have become. Martin tried to right the course, no pun intended, and look what happened to him. Until they can reconnect with their liberal roots and ideals, they will remain Liberals in name only.

Martin was hamstrung, he was identified with the Gomery inquiry because the liberal party was direvtly responsible. Martin could literall have been jesus and he still would have lost. The CPC was simply in the right place and the right time.

The CPC if it goes off the rails like the Republican Party has down south will meet a worse fate, the actual 'right' wing of this country is incredibley small. Conservatives actually seem to think that people who voted for them di so because tey too are conservatives. Not so, they're moderates who lost faith with the Liberal Party. And as long as Stephen Harper keep a tight leash on the bible thumpers and neo-cons in hos own party he will retain power. But if the ever get loose and become the Canaidan vresion of O'reilly and Beck, they'll quickly find themselvs int he hinterland

Poor Iggy... He was supposed to be the savior and now, when is the last time we heard of him ? And we have MINORITY government. If I were him, I would have waited some times before becoming the chief, after the flop of Dion.

We have a similar situation in Quebec. There was a "course à la chefferie" with the ADQ. Gilles Taillon got elected with only ONE vote over the other candidate and 3 weeks after he had to step back. Now they crowned another guy and we have to see what he will do. He has a lot on his shoulders. Like you say, politics is hard.

It's not a left-right thing, it's about the chief of the Liberal Party. He's not doing the job. That's all. The polls show it.

".. Until they can reconnect with their liberal roots and ideals, they will remain Liberals in name only."

You'd have expected the candidate elections and the Vancouver "policy-but not policy" meeting to have done that but it was clear that the people who really run the party didn't care what the people thought. I'm sad no one followed up on the un-democratic way this party appointed leaders and chose policy but that's the Canadian media.

Obviously, Janine Krieber knows who runs the party:

$1:
"If the elites of Toronto had been more alert, humble and realistic, Stephane was ready to take all the time and the hits to rebuild that party. But they couldn't accept 26 per cent (popularity). Now we're at 23 per cent."

Shame shame shame.
