They are no kids, only statistic.

Right-Wing Ideology in a nutshell.

Yeah according to your 16 years on the planet. If you refuse to do anything but use extreme examples for definitions you probably won't make it far or long in this world.

I support us helping the Afghans. But in my opinion too many canadians seem to be disrespecting our troops over there, and im ed up about it.

I think we have over stayed our welcome, because i saw on the news Afghan women protesting against NATO for protesting some stupid law Karzai wants to put forward.

Mabye we should let them blow themselves up first, before we help them because they seem to want to do it themselves. They seem to want to make the changes on there own.

Im not trying to be a smart ass, just my opinion...

I have no idea where this woman is comming from. She hates the taliban but now she dosen't want NATO there either, and she's so outspoken with her confusion that they don't want her in the Afghan government either. How exactly is she then helping her people? She seems more conceren about her own talk show circuit and book sales than actually helping her people by working with the Afghan government.
Another useful idiot.

It was my understanding that she was kicked out for violating some kind of parliamentary law, not because she was a critic, I could be wrong though.

She would never have been allowed to talk like this had NATO/ISAF not intervened. She would have no rights, she would be another faceless body floating silently through the streets in a burqa. It is because of us (the West) that she's even able to shoot her mouth off like this, if the Taliban were still in power she would have been stoned to death in a soccer stadium and probably raped before hand.

We're not doing ourselves any favours with the locals if we're seen propping up the corrupt Karzai government. Turning a blind eye to traditional Afghan tribal bribery is one thing. Staying silent when Karzai rigged the last election is something else altogether. People in Canada have a right to bitch if our guys are dying just so the current Afghan government can keep lining thier pockets.

That's crap. You're applying a perfect, western presumption on a 2nd term democracy. We all agree that any corruption is wrong but the Karzi government is still far better for the people than the taliban.

Afghan government corruption is just being used as another excuse to cut & run.

I don't think she hates NATO. Like a lot of Afghans I think they fear/hate the taliban, but also figure they (Afghans) could do a better job of running the NATO mission if they were in charge. Popular sentiment. Since their decisions wouldn't be based on Western political views of the mission they probably have a point...up to a point.

Proud national views are definately good but she's doing no good on a book & speaking tour in the west. I was looking to see if she even lives in Afghanistan any more.

Bottom line is the Afghans are going to have to work out their corruption or prisoner rights problems on their own.

Agreed. It'll just be twisted into a reason to oppose.

How are the taliban or regional warlords less corrupt that an elected Afghan government? Wouldn't it be better to work with the existing government to help them, than to start all over again?
