EyeBrock EyeBrock:
They have a right to protest and a right not to get beaten by the cops. But they are arseholes.

Well they don't have the right to throw eggs at soldiers. That's assault as far as I'm concerned. And if a couple of them get a bit roughed up for, erm, 'resisting arrest', I wouldn't shed a tear.

It is assault, but it shouldn't be up to the cops to dole out 'summary justice' on the street. It should be up to the courts.

In a democracy we shouldn't pick and choose the times when peace officers conduct lawful arrests, however public opinion or the mob thinks.

The police should do their job, regardless of emotions that surround particular incidents.

Oh man, pelting soldiers on parade is just WRONG! Especially an honoured and storied unit like the Black Watch!

Why could they just have pelted Charles instead?

Or maybe Michaëlle Jean?

Good one.

The eggs ticked them off, the extra 45 minutes standing on parade made them furious.

for thousands of years, protesting royalty would get your head cut off.

I didn't read the article, and I suspect that I don't agree with the protestors....

yet at the same time, I think maybe we should protest them because we can. no other reason but we can. does this make any sense?

My old man was the RQMS of the Black Watch, I am relieved that he is not here to witness his beloved Regiment disrespected by these punk assholes. He would have waded into them, and the cops would have had a job pulling him off of them. Watching friends and comrades die in battle, justifies it. I could also hear him say his favourite quote: "You can kiss my Royal Canadian!"

Obviously. I'm not suggesting police brutality become institutionalised. I'm just saying, these assholes deserved a few tolchocks for being little bastards, and if they happened to have got a few in the scuffle of resisting arrest or something, I'd be glad.

No matter how uncivilised you might think it, some people need nothing more than a good kick in the arse to straighten them out. That's something the judge will obviously never give them.

That said, were these dipshits even arrested?

Eggs are much softer than the rocks they get pelted with in Afghanistan.

But sometimes the protesters got to chop the heads off royalty.
