Try using that phoney Facebook email if you want to see a real nasty virus. That's exactly how it works, installs a fake scanner and warning and all the while it infects all you exe files, redirects your browser, downloads more, installs a rootkit.
You could also be screwed by LimeWire, go off looking for part 9 of a multipart game download and end up with kiddieporn. Don't do it. Don't search for files called 9, 11, 13 etc, you really could end up like the guy in the article. I've helped the RCMP trace IPS for stuff. Now I can't help wondering if I shafted someone, cuz you know the cops aren't going to check your drive for infections for you, and you're never gonna get it back so your defense team can either....

Man, that sucks. I've heard of this happening to people before one victim was an 86 year old grandmother. The worst part about it even if you can prove your innocent in the end, your reputation is pretty much shot when accusations of pedohilia is thrown at you.
I'm pretty carefull what i click on out there or download, I never dl stolen music or files, or cracks for games. Next step i guess is disconnecting my cable from my modem when not using my pc.
Isnt there some sort of script that you can activate in your IE browser that never allows outside scripts to run when you get to a webpage.

Firefox, with the plugins 'NoScript', FlashBlock, AdBlock, Web Of Trust, and Stop Autoplay will keep you safe from most scripting hacks. As for disconnecting your connection, it's no big deal. As usual, 'Sid doesn't know what he's saying. My Motorola modem even has a large button on top to do just that.

I know exactly what im talking about. why don't you hit the button ever minute for a half hour and see what happens from your end and shaws. As for IE its the shittiest browser there is, need more explanation?
