Yea, 'cos they don't give a sh*t about their own history. Sh*t nation, sh*t culture, if you can call what they have a 'culture'.
Not to tweak anyone, but the prevailing attitude amongst Muslims is that anything that is not Muslim is not their culture and it is not worth preserving. For instance, long before the Europeans got into Egypt the Muslims had stripped the polished limestone off of all of the Great Pyramids to use for their various mosques in and around Egypt. In the current day the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt advocates razing all of the pharohnic pyramids and temples as an affront to Islam not unlike how the Taliban destroyed the Great Buddhas of Afghanistan a decade ago.
Add to this that the Libyans are more closely related to the modern day Lebanese than they are to the Carthaginians who are genetically close to modern day Sicilians. What that means is that the Libyans are descendant from invaders who took over the region and colonized it. The native Carthaginians who had survived the reprisals of Rome unfortunately did not survive the Muslim invaders a few centuries later.
Therefore, the history of Carthage and Rome is not the history of the modern day Libyan. It is sad that they do not value history for its own sake but I will allow that they would not be expected to be sentimental about it.
Should the day come that Westerners stand triumphant in Mecca and Medina I hope we have as much sentimentality about Muslim monuments as they have had for others.
