Hmmm, I do have an issue with this. First off, if you want to emigrate to Quebec, you HAVE to fill out your paperwork in French. You HAVE to do a language test in French, to prove you speak the language.
WHY would people who want to emigrate to Quebec, not send their kids to a French school? Just don't move to Quebec if that is such an issue...

Alot of them are using Quebec Immigration policy just to get into Canada via Quebec then eventually move elsewhere.

Which is fine. If they speak French, they can. But that is not the issue. The issue is, they want to move to Quebec, but not speak French. Wrong province...

The country is Canada! It has two official languages. If an immigrant wants to learn English in Canada, he should be able to. Thousands of people died in wars to keep our country free. And then this bullshit in Quebec happens.

Quebec does have different immigration rules. You KNOW that when you apply. For immigrants to knowingly fuck with this, is just not done.

I totally agree with you, thats not the point either. Just stop giving Quebec different rules and regs and the issue is solved. Since it's not like that, and you know that when you move there, you just shouldn't bitch. Move to another province. There are 12 more where you can speak English.

This is my favorite part!

The province's separatist opposition even questioned the legitimacy of the Supreme Court of Canada, asking how "a court named by another nation" could possibly be allowed to dictate language policy in Quebec.

Excuse me, your Canadians no matter which province you live in.

Followed by!
"The Supreme Court, a court named by another nation, has once again hacked away at a tool that is fundamental for the Quebec nation," Parti Quebecois Leader Pauline Marois said.

Um, yah. You had your referendum and lost so give it up.

Don't worry too much about it .. those are the delusional separatists who think Québéc is a country already. They will pound the separtist drum again for a few years, but the fact of the matter is the majority of Québéois know the benefits of living in the best country in the world and they didn't need Clinton to remind them of it. There are also so many immigrants who are living in the province and know the same benefit and would never vote for separation in a referendum.

yet Kenmore if anyone from the west was making any comments 'near' to these you would be screaming red neck at the top of your lungs. Now you say, well, never mind these comments.

hum, those comments sound pretty typical of what the west thinks of Qc..cocky, and a sense of entitlement. 'we're special'

No the issue is the right of education.

I agree if you choose to live here, its your obligation to learn french. And would be the same where ever a person moved, whether it be Italy, Germany etc.

These immigrants can obviously speak french if they were able to immigrate to Quebec, I suspect they will still speak french to their kids when they get home from English schools. Maybe they just want their kids to be bilingual.

Oh lord the horror.

The PQ aren't big fans of english schools in their province, nothing new here.
