Canadaka Canadaka:
commanderkai you got student copy that fast?... I wouldn't upgrade either, I always prefer doing a full install.

The link you provided was the upgrade. I thought I would be able to do a clean install...but nope. Meh, I did get the refund after a while though.

You can do a clean install with an upgrade disk, I am doing it.

But it seems there is an issue with the student upgrade, see here:

...Wonderful. I might just see what they do once its fixed. The thing is, I run Vista Ultimate 64bit on my desktop, and they said the Student version can't upgrade this version using a clean install...

Sounded like bullshit, but still.

"Upgrade path was incorrect. Ultimate features cannot be degraded with HomePremium even though the operating system is of higher version.
Resolution: You have been suggested to get Win7Ultimate64 to run the upgrade successfully or else get any flavor of Win 7 full version to do a clean installation."

That's what they said. To people who actually do this for a living (remember, this was a direct to drive type download, not a disk), why would a clean install not work because of Ultimate?

I have an i7 with 6GB RAM and run Vista 64-bit without any problems at all. Lot's of other goodies but Vista doesn't slow my rig down.

It's WORK.
Lotta shit is written for business that's specifically made NOT to allow any change unless the software maker can hose you for the price of a new Ferrari.
Like when XP rolled out and every damn business around was using AccPac for accounting. They just weren't gonna shell out $5000 for Adagio(the upgrade) until their DOS machines were completely and totally gone the way of steam engines...
Shit last year I had to make a 3.0 Ghz machine Win98 because a signmaker just fucking refused to shell out $1000 for new software. Wouldn't even run with Win2000.
Sold someone a new machine last week, they'd held out with WinME because they 'liked' they're piggybacked scanner/inkjet from 1996...

My Netbook project got delayed a week... the gf demands attention....
