PffT, does city council actually talk to lawyers when they come up with this stuff or just go with the first thing they pull out of their butts?

Someone will get charged under this, it will go to court and the law will be deemed of no force since it violates a number of Charter rights and certainly, by a reasonable persons standards, cannot be saved under Sec. 1 as a reasonable limit to restrict ones Charter rights to free speech. The penalty for this is worse than many actually criminal code convictions and municipal laws are subordinate to the CCC which makes it an excessive and unreasonable limit. Sure if they put up hate speech signs thats one thing, but saying "Canada is a Police State" well that's just a matter of opinion and not against the law.

Can't wait to see how many people put up signs just so they can take the law and squash in in court. Then go to civil court and sue the city of Vancouver for harassment.

I think it's going to become a bit of a tradition that totalitarianism follows this thing. Everything must be viciously and even violently controlled and monitored to be "perfect".

I think it was George Bernard Shaw who opined that sex is a few moments of pleasure followed by a lifetime of misery. Given the tax burden that goes with it that sums up the Olympics too.
