Yet again America excepts us to be good little boys and clean up there garbage.

""The Obama administration is trying to do the right thing, the very thing Canada was asking the United States to do for so long. It's pathetic that Canada now won't lift a finger to help, especially since so many other NATO allies are doing their part," said Tom Malinowski, Washington director of Human Rights Watch."

These people forfieted there rights to be human when they decided to kill and terrorize the world and civilians. They are the worst of the worst of human beings and deserve no sympathy.

If they are not Canadian, Canada is not obligated to take them. It just pisses me off that America thinks they can pretty much do anything.

Congrats for them for shutting gitmo which was responsable for torture but gitmo was a U.S. run facility and it is the U.S.'s responsability for those they captured and tortured. If they really got no place to go because they will be tortured further back home. Than take them yourselves. Don't put your entire mess on everybody else and expect the international community to clean up your little mess.

I wonder if this isn't all just a big ploy by the current US government, so when they get attacked again, because their security has gone down the toilet, they can claim Canada harbours terrorists and blame the attacks on Canada's lax security?

Yep. I'm sure they' have their system fine tuned now, so they wanna take another crack at it.

The US should have been just a wee bit more proactive with their "responsible" plan of shutting down Gitmo, and figured out where they were going to relocate these detainees to PRIOR to actually closing the doors.

Their lack of planning and piss poor management should not be anyone else's problem.

Not really. There's still a shitload of Americans who believe the 911 terrorists came from Canada and there has never really been an public explination by their Government to refute that assumption.

The official would not speculate whether Canada's apparent snub would hinder relations between the two countries.

Who cares? What are they going to do about it?

Think less of us. Apparently Canada doesn't like not to be liked so we try to be the perfect angels on the international stage and therefore cave into minority demands to appease in order to feel good about ourselves but in reality that isn't true.

How true. Sometimes the answer has to be "no". As much as it is good to be nice all the time you can't expect respect if you let everyone walk all over you without ever taking a stand.

SOP. Make the promise and worry about the details later. Sice the US refuses to take any of them it was silly of Obama to think other countries would welcome any of these guys. Hell, Canada won't even take the one Canuck they have down there. 8O

Even with "don't ask, don't tell" Obama is wavering. His message is: we'll handle it...sometime.

Never trust a politician who promises anything.
