I wonder if it's from the States like 90% of illegal firearms in Canada.

sandorski sandorski:
We don't need guns.

I wouldn't go that far. Hunting rifles have their uses, but I do agree that civilians having military style assault weapons is ridiculous. The only people with a need for such weapons are the military and police.

And the only reasons cops need assault rifles is cause they are sometimes on the receiving end of them... but limiting weapons access to law-abiding citizens wont change that.

Sorry, but there is no rationale reason a civilian needs an assault rifle (or any other weapon designed solely for the purpose of killing other people).

If you want to hunt, a good Winchester 30-06 is just as good (if not better) than an M-16 or AK-47, while a Desert Eagle is basically useless (unless you're stupid enough to explore caves looking for bears to kill, in which case Darwinian evolution will apply eventually anyways).

If you're looking for a weapon for home defence, a shotgun is a far better tool, as you generally don't have to worry about the buckshot going through the drywall and killing the very loved ones you're trying to protect.

I have yet to hear of a good reason you or I NEED an AK-47 or M-16 or MAC-11.

This was brought in or made specifically for the drug gangs to shoot each other with. Something like that would be very difficult to control and could have caused huge ammounts of casualties if it were used in a crowded area.

Just another example of criminals being criminals and being unaffected by any gun control measures.

Cool. Give it a bigger silencer and it'd look almost exactly like Snake Plissken's gun.

another example of an ineffective ban,

How could this gun exist? automatic weapons have been banned here since 1926!

If the Liberals want to save lives try banning tobbaco, good luck!

actually they have been prohibited since 1976. But there are some legal owners still who have been grandfathered to own them since they were in continuous procession since the laws have changed.

Even though they legally own then, they can not get an ATT to take them to a range and shoot them..

Dude, where did I say a citizen should have an AK, M-16, etc? I don't support that at all. congrats on wasting 2 minutes trying to debate with someone that has the same ideas as you.

In the US, they can own things like that but it takes a truck load of taxes, police inspections and permits. These class-3 permit holders are also extremely safe as none that I know of have ever been involved with a mad shooting or robery.

It's almost always easier for the thugs to buy their guns at the bar than to steal them from someone armed to the teeth.

Well the obvious solution then is to ban all gun production and sales then. Works with illegal narcotics.

I'm ok with Hunters having Rifles. That and Target/Sport Shooters, beyond that there's no reason for a Civilian to own a Gun.

There is a ton of things that there is no reason to own but people do. I mean I don't need that new boat but I own one, just like I don't need a ton of weapons but I do own several. Banning things seems to be a leftie trait, the so called "progressives".
