I wouldn't be sure of that. Remember this womans plight, along with a number of others started under a Lib government and the CPC said nothing. I like to believe that national security matters mean more to the CPC than crass political hay.

So the opposition want the government to pick up the legal costs of one of their constituants, so she can sue the government... and now that her story is falling apart, they want a big public apology and settlement.

The difference between you and I is that you're chosing to rush to a conclusion in absence of all the facts just to satisfy your inner lynch mob. You also seem very quick to judge others who have less ZEAL for an issue than you do and make statements like "you might believe her" when clearly thats not what I said or call them communist or whatever, which is unfortunate. Maybe you're just young, but I think you'll find that the best decisions in this world get made when people think clearly, take time to get all the facts before rushing to judgment and dont polarize discussions into oversimplified black/white, with-me-or-against-me paradigms.

Actually, she didnt. As I pointed out on the other active thread on this topic, it was in fact her all along, and there is no DIRECT evidence of use by another person. The question seems to be why did she provide incorrect info on her original immigration application. This is the info she couldnt verify after she was detained which led the gov to believe there was a second person involved. There may still be a fraud case against her here, but there are other explanations as well, such as negligence or malfeasance on the part of an immigration lawyer or agent who often complete these forms for their clients.

She was 7cms shorter than what was listed on her passport, explain that one.

crass political hay is the fare of all parties, dont kid yourself. True, CPC is not generally concerned with issues affecting immigrants or minorities but a story with lots of media play would have surely been used.

have you ever gotten a passport? They dont measure you, they just ask you to fill in a blank about your height or go by what your other documents say. The woman that we KNOW to be her who is back in Canada is STILL 7cm shorter than her passport. This is why Im saying the fishiness is not with her ordeal in Kenya, but with her original refugee documents when she first immigrated here. Her recent ordeal in Kenya has likely just brought them under scrutiny for the first time and therefore some chickens that were hatched over a decade ago when she first fled Somalia and filed her refugee claim just now may be coming home to roost.

The refugee environment and the system we have in place provides ample room for both deliberate abuse by some AS WELL AS well-intentioned inaccuracies. I for one am not going to stock up on tar and feathers just yet. The rest of you, feel free to join the mob if you like but admit that you have no more knowledge of the facts than anyone else and you are making assumptions at this point while many questions are still unanswered.



And no, this does not mean I am "on her side" or that I "believe her", its just sound rational logic to wait til all the facts are out.
