Sorry. I'm a little touchy when it comes to this subject. It is a struggle every day, and to see a remark like " it's a scam and an excuse for parents who don't want to deal with their kids" just pisses me off. He should walk in someone else's shoes before making such generalities.
Be touchy, you've a right to, it is a recognized condition.
I think though that the schools more so than parents use it as an excuse, it seems to me that almost every kid in the school my wife works in is coded for one condition or another if a teacher has had an issue with them.
The reason they do this is purely monetary, they get more aid hours and hence more staff if they have kids that are coded, ADHD is common but it tends to be the one that alot of these so called educational phsycologists use in the schools to get kids coded and hence a bigger operating budget.
It's a shame because it is used so much that the kids that truly have ADHD are the ones that get the least help throught he schools for it. Kudos to you for spending time with your son and helping him to overcome this diabality, alot of parents are blind to their childs problems.
I would also like to ask, what if anything did they attribute it to before the internet came along.
