Hitler_Elvis Hitler_Elvis:
I'll answer that BarfSimpson: Religious fundamentalism. You see this in your own society every day. Do you feel the same sense of outrage when it happens in Idaho or Wisconsin or Texas?

You don't. You just see this as another reason to hate Arabs.

What do Arabs have to do with Islam? Arabs only make up 20% of Muslims. The fact that you made that statement shows how much you lack any real information about Islam.

$1:
"We make sure they know why they are being held and give them the chance to ask God's forgiveness before they are killed."

Lets see. I have an AK-47 held to my head and some one asks if I am gay and want to repent? I think I'd start my best academy award winning gay repentance speech pretty dam quick. :P

$1:
Homosexuality was not criminalised under Saddam Hussein – indeed Iraq in the 1960s and 1970s was known for its relatively liberated gay scene

Too bad Sodom Hussein got it. or Bagdad would now be the gay vacation destination of choice for North Americans. 8)

peace

So all these homosexuals being killed is a hell of a joke for you progressive folks?
Pretty intolerant of you folks, isn't that?

Myself, I relish the conundrum some politically correct types have to face as they try to explain away Islamic intolerance for homosexuals while studiously avoiding any reference to Islam.

Your right. When faced with such a problem, they avoid it by pretending it's funny. No wonder they don't get anything fixed.

The difference is, we have laws against intolerance and people get arrested for it.

In the 3rd World, they don't really have laws. Whoever has the biggest gun or biggest gang makes the laws.

And where in the USA does there exist an organized effort to track down and maim or murder homosexuals?

1,460 hate crimes, right? How many of those include gays being physically tortured, maimed, and murdered by any organized group? See, under our laws that's not just a hate crime it's also a conspiracy and we severely prosecute criminal co-conspirators so I'm curious which of these crimes - that you purport as equivalent to what's happened in Iraq - fit this description?

Hitler_Elvis Hitler_Elvis:
That's fair.

United States 2007:

1,460 hate crime offenses based on sexual-orientation bias were reported by law enforcement agencies. Of these offenses:
http://gaylife.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=gaylife&cdn=people&tm=53&f=00&su=p284.9.336.ip_&tt=2&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/civilrights/hate.htm

These stats are taken from the FBI's site:
http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/civilrights/hate.htm

That's about 4/day for a pop of 300,000,000, 1 out of every 205 people. I couldn't find anything (quickly) specifically about deaths.

24 posts and a -10 rep.

I'm still waiting for your hate crimes stats in Arab, or Islam countries.

Not one single Islamic country in the world has a hate crime law on the books so why are you asking for stats that don't exist?

Isn't that more like 1 in 204 thousand people?

Back up your post. You are being called out.

Oh, and do list your source

Back up his post? I don't think it needs much backing. I think that, without providing any evidence, that I'm pretty sure that 130 maimed, tortured dead American gays have not appeared in US streets this year. There are, in fact, many openly gay Americans and many sanctioned events, such as teh gay pride parades in several cities. There's gay bars, gay publications--an active and vibrant gay culture.

And how do you back up your post--by providing reports of hate crimes? Not to belittle any crime aginst someone because they are gay, but that is hardly equivocal to this systematic torture and murder of gays. Some dude painting a swastika on the local synagogue is not the Holocaust.

I can't even believe you are trying to compare the two.

If I were to blame the US for anything it would be the destruction of the Sunni government in Iraq, the resulting anarchy and the predictable rise of the more conservative Shi'ite and various other unsavory types.

Bingo. It's not a 'hate crime' in Iraq or Iran. It's a calling. It's a 'happy-love-joy-luck action'.
