Zipperfish Zipperfish:
They could have just enetitled this thread "Many conservatives eraged." It seems to be their natural state these days.

Is that enraged or deranged?

Oops, it was supposed to be "enraged" like the title thread. I suppose either would fit though.

I mean seriously losing it's mind. The last four presidents have done largely the same thing going back to Reagan and no one gave a toss then.

The fact that so many opposed to this are saying this is Socialism shows just how necessary Obama's message to study hard really is because this is born purely out of ignorance and nothing else.

I don't think so. This has been happening all the time it is the effect of blogs, twitter and 24 hr news that echos it that mountains get built out of mole hills. The fact is the GOP are simply 'testing the fence' because they have no issue or platform themselves and there is no downside for them. None of this will stick on any member of the GOP so they have nothing to lose by doing this to see what sort of traction it will get and if it is a dud, oh well they move on to the next 'crisis' till they find something that resonates and they run with it. Every political party does this to some extent and normally it gets ignored and forgotten but the echo chamber of the news cycle that thrives on conflict blows stuff like this way out of proportion because it lacks and plausible objectivity other then to feed itself by driving up ratings. Everyone like to see a good fight, this just isn't it.

I'll agree with you on the fact that this "outrage" is being fueld by the internet, but the problem now is that insane internet ramblings are making it onto CNN and co. and being reported are legitimate news.

But, if you put this in the recent cavalcade of BS criticisms of Obama since he took office, it's all part of a theme; Obama/Liberals are destroying America. Not just enacting policies Conservatives disagree with ideologically, but actively undoing America. This is the message snet out on talk radio and on FOX News every day and has been for almost two decades now. Is it any wonder that whenever Democrats are in power things get crazy? During the 90's it was the anti-government militias and the Clinton witchhunts, and now we have people who are so upset at the idea of President Obama telling kids to stay in school that they're keeping their kids home that day.

It's insane. There is no equivocation for it. And this is 7 months into his presidency.

It's not insane, it's politics and in the US politics is a bloodsport. Anything goes, no holds barred and the fool that thinks there are rules is an easy mark down there. If they can get an angle that sticks and gets picked up by the media that evokes an off balance reaction/off the record response the keeps a fire burning then it's fair.

Doesn't matter if there is a lick of truth to it or if the accusations are of the most baseless slander like pedophilia to the next Manchurian candidate, if it excites discussion they will throw that Molotov in a heartbeat. It's an ends justify the means mindset in the guise of debate because real debate can not happen when the two sides exists in completely different realities that have a feeble grasp at best at true Realpolitik that has long since put party before country. There is a real air of desperation but true analysis would show this for what it is, theater. Only takes a few flakes to make that happen.

The problem with this "theatre" is that life ow immitates art and the theatre is now more real than reality. Also the flakes are becoming the norm rather than the exception.

The Depression was repeated, could the Civil War be too?

I certainly hope not, but it's hard to imagine this schism going away until there's some extreme event to set everybody back to Civil again.
