That can't be true because we keep hearing about how xtianity is the most oppressed religion in the world. Surely this oppression would prevent such billboards.

You'd think that..... and yet:

^ Nice placement by the adult video sign.

And of course Jesus is watching us, esspecially when we are watching porn... he doesn't have to pay porn rental fees that way.... damn freeloader

Christians complaining about those with conflicting beliefs doing what they have been doing for so long now is yet one more hypocracy among many in their faith.

Praxius Praxius:
Actually these bus ads arn't even on the same level as the above example or most of the other billboards out there by Christians, as Christian billboards are designed to dictate fact and their view as absolute, while the bus ad was "Probably" not fact or absolute..... so who's worse?

Neither, because it's a billboard. Saying Coca Cola is "Probably" better than Pepsi just sounds stupid because in the end, a billboard is an advertisement.

Religion brought us the Crusades, the scientific method brought us nuclear weapons.

Thanks for the radioactive fireworks humanists and freethinkers!

The church also was the driving force behind schools, because they felt it was important that members could read the bible. This basic education for all was one of the main reasons why the west is as successful as it is.

I think you'd find it was humanists and free thinkers that developed the nuke, but it was more likely it was the "God is on our side" crowd that would cause it to be used.

Which Church was that exactly? And you may want to look into WHY certain denominations pushed education (certainly not for all as that only starts to emerge AFTER the Enlightenment) as it was more than just "reading" the Bible.

In most cases the church wanted the responsibilities of education simply for the ability to indoctrinate.

Quebec, the separate school system in Ontario, and the residential schools are great examples. My first few years of school were in a Catholic school, and as a result of that would never have considered sending my own children to that kind of environment.

Hence why I thank them. It's only polite. :D

It would seem that some of my fellow atheists are becoming as annoying as some born again Christians.

Just with a lot more hypocrisy.

This philosopher fellow is right. These bus ads are not going to change many peoples minds. I may not agree with the message but if they want to pay to put those ads on a few buses then by all means go right ahead, just don't whine when the anti-abortion ads are put on the buses in Hamilton. Oh, wait. People did whine.

Bit of a difference considering most of those anti-abortion ads and such usually end up showing us rotting fetus parts in a trash bag.

Doesn't bug me any, but that certainly something that children shouldn't be exposed to in a public environment.

And I've heard anti-abortionists claim that children should be told the truth at a young age about abortion........

.... Yet these same people won't talk to their own children about sex and claim it's too early of an age to talk about such things. [huh]

Rotting fetus parts in a trash bag??? The ads show a mom's belly with the outline of the fetus. No rotting fetuses.
