appearantly not in the same way that you did. I feel sorry for you. Who will you hate when the world develops compassion for overweight people?

Well I might make a comment about your opinion of homosexuals.

Seriously the cartoon was a play on the irony of cartoonishly unattractive people being disgusted about being forced to view nudity.

Jesus taught to love the sinner, but hate the sin.

Too bad that most secular people seek to legalize the sin, but still won't give the time of day to a homosexual or a drug addict.

Yet the hate that religious people have homosexuality is for the actual people.

Secular people don't give the time of day to homosexuals and drug addicts? :? I don't think so. I'd say that homosexuals are far more accepted by secular people then religious ones.

When was the last time you were as friendly with them as you would be with any other person that you have never met?

Even if you can answer my question amicably, I doubt that many people can.

Lets see. First off I don't few them differently then other people. I have worked alongside gay coworkers (and the only person there who didn't like him was a very religiously conservative women who nobody liked) with no problems because he was a nice guy that everybody seemed to like.

In my dorm we had 2 gay guys and nobody treated them differently including myself. Seeing as one was in the same program as I was we talked all the time. The manager at the bar I worked at in England was gay and as a group the bar went out clubbing all the time. In fact as I was living in Brighton I actually knew lots of gay people and their sexuality wasn't an issue about being friendly with them or not.

Now here on CKA we have a gay member whom I don't get along with particularly well but thats based on politics and not his sexuality.

My opinion of somebody doesn't change just because I suddenly find out they are homosexual. Does yours?

Well, I commend you. You are not nearly as liberal as you think.

Gay people are still god's children. They are to be treated with the same respect as any other sinner. and we are all sinners.

the RC church teaches that all sins are equal. ie a sin is a sin, therefore homosexuality is no better and no worse than stealing, murdering, lying, coveting the neighbor's wife, etc.

I am impressed that you feel the same way.

I can't find the picture/comic anymore but the last time something like this came up (nude statues causing offence) someone posted a funny cartoon that summed it up. It depicted a rather ugly and obese couple buldging out of their shorts expressing their disgust at the david like statue saying "egads, cover that up. Its filthy that I have to see something like that".

It would fit in here nicely also.

Yes, we all know that it is still politically correct to make fun of overweight people. they are the last group where it is socially acceptable to shun.

Yeah, Its not socially acceptable to make fun of overweight people. you wanna make fun of me, and I'll leave you bleeding in a ditch (I'm 400 lbs). Its not socially acceptable to make fun of anyone, didn't the bible say something to the effect of "judge not lest ye be judged"?

Every day, I find you treat them with dignity and they will do the same. They are still human beings, just because they use drugs or happen to like the same sex doesn't negate the fact they are still human.

Actually he was chiding me for doing that when he wrongly assumed I was making fun of overweight people. He wasn't making fun of overweight people.
