The PM is supposed to be a lot smarter (or at least better informed) than that, and trying to excuse it by pointing fingers is beyond silly. No names mentioned......

He made a fool of himself in order to try and score some cheap political points and (as usual) it bit him in the ass.

bootlegga bootlegga:
Since when has Harper ever needed correct information to launch a partisan attack. He always takes quotes and events out of context to suit his petty attacks. You'd think after almost a decade of such childish propaganda, he'd learn...I guess he still thinks it will win him a majority.

Indeed... all the political propaganda shoved in our faces during elections and even when no election is in sight, is quite annoying, like the whole Iggy just Visiting crap.

Ever notice how the Conservatives always go on the attack every chance they can and spew propaganda, and very rarely ever speak about their own accomplishments?

Even when they do brag about their own accomplishments, their descriptions are so vauge and limited it's more of just a waste of time really.

That's not to say I support the Liberals any.... I hate the Cons and Libs equally. Just the same Good Cop Bad Cop garbage most Canadians have been sucked into since the country was founded. Simply too scared to try something new and these parties know this, so they play their soap opera for all of us on TV to act like they're out for our best interests, when in reality, they keep screwing us all over time and time again.

One gets voted in because people are pissed about the other. Then the other party screws things up royally, everybody get's pissed again, forget that the other guys screwed them over not too long ago, vote them into power.... and then people act all suprised when they get screwed over again and then vote in the other guys again.

Why?

Maybe people are comfortable with being screwed over so much that they not only became acustomed to it, but expect it as the norm and at least it's better then an unknown :?

And unknown that could be getting screwed over much in the same way as now..... or a government that actually does their job.... WOW What a concept!!! Seems like a risk I'd be willing to take.

ridenrain ridenrain:
That's hardly a scathing personal attack is it?

Personal attack on whom? I was merely commenting generally towards assumptions and relaying an old saying, so to speak.

If it was directed towards anybody, I guess it'd be towards Harper since he was the only one in this situation at fault for such a mistake and voicing himself during an event where political banter shouldn't apply, imo.

But if I did the same thing, which I do sometimes with assumptions, feel free to relate me to an ass as well... it'd only be fair.

But my comments wern't directed at any member in these forums, if that was what you were implying.

Thanks for finally posting the actual quote.

It was in the other thread's link. The source I posted never did quote what was said unfortunatly.

The media couldn't make amything big out of that and it's simply not good enough for a sound bite.

I would like to know about the actual economist that Harper inadvertently was quoting. If the G8 is just being used as a podium for Ad hominem attacks vs domestic opponents then what was the use of the meeting? I know the meeting did have something other then attack Iggy on the agenda but the basis of the G8 is better suited for a G20 at this point.

Obviously, I was talking about the suposed personal attack Harper made about Iggy. If it wasnt clear, it had nothing to do with you.

Kenmore: You probably didn't know the G8 was even meeting and even if yiou did, you wouldn't care because it dosen't include Quebec anyways. You Bloc-heads are still working at explaning you refusal to vote with the rest of the nation against child trafficing.

Perhaps the Media knew it was BS from the start? You should be glad, it makes Harper look less of a Douchebag by not making a big deal out of the original statement.

Did you read the wrong comment?

$1:
If you don't mind giving me a moment to address the comments of Mr. Ignatieff. The leader of the opposition suggested very recently in the last day or two, I gather, that it's possible -- I’m not sure if he's saying it's desirable or should happen or could happen -- that there will be a group come to the fore, a group of major countries that will exclude Canada. I don't know where he's getting this idea. Nobody but Mr. Ignatieff in the world has suggested excluding Canada from a meeting of major countries. Nobody. It's the first anybody has heard of it. I think it's an irresponsible suggestion, Mr. Ignatieff is supposed to be a Canadian. I don't think you go out and float ideas like this that are so obviously contrary to the country's interests when no one else is advocating them. So I would suggest that he look carefully at his comments and withdraw those. Frankly they would be irresponsible coming from anybody but particularly irresponsible coming from a keen Canadian Parliamentarian.

If that isn't a harsh and cruel, biting slap in the face, eh?
Seriously, I doubt that most Canadian reporters would even realize that was a slight without Cat Meat Kinsella yanking their leashes.
