The new Colour was a parade for all folks in HRM wearing the Naval DEU, so even the crowd was something to see!! 3000 plus hairy bags in Salt and Peppers (white short sleave shirt, black dress pants).
The folks on parade did us all proud. Four 100 sailor guards, the combined bands of Stadacona, Naden and the Naval Reserve and the Colour Party of course. Some of the most intricate drill the CF does and if anyone missed a beat in over 2 hours, I did not see it. Turns on the march, Feu de Joie etc. And all done on grass, an absolutely horrid surface to carry out drill on.
A grand way to spend a Saturday morning!

EyeBrock EyeBrock: Ok, nuts then it is. You blindly follow a birth based entitlement, I'll advocate meritocracy. Royalty is the original Paris Hilton cult. No merit, no qualifications other than birth, no class. No thanks, I don't drink the kool-aide. For Wullu, I always respect the Forces, for them, mucho respect.

Lets leave it that way eh?

Scape Scape: HA! On grass? Any wipeouts? Not a one. They practiced for 8 hours a day for four weeks. It showed. I had only ever seen a Feu de Joie once before and that was a single 100 man guard. Seeing, and hearing, four guards nail it four times in a row was something else.

Nah mate, I know a waste of time when I see one. You are more interested in showing us all how clever you are with your split infinitives.
Really, there's no debate in the offing here. You are a tad nuts and I'm not going to change your view on anything, despite how many counter posts to silly posts I make.
On the monarchy, my mother and father are Irish. The monarchy means little to me. But I am a soldier.
Tradition and heritage are the twin core values that bind us together. You wouldn't understand unless you went through boot camp then saw your mates in pain.
On my avatar, I agree, Brock was suspicious of the population in Upper Canada. Despite that he did his job and stuck to his duty. He organised the defence of the colony and died fighting for Canadians. There's a rather big memorial in Stoney Creek paid for by Canadians who see it my way and not yours.
If that's a bad example to follow then so be it.

$1: Tradition and heritage are the twin core values that bind us together. The Queen is not my tradition or heritage. Not Quebec's. Not most of the modern immigrants to Canada. We make the majority. $1: He organised the defence of the colony and died fighting for Canadians. No, that is utter BS, he died fighting for Britain. Britain wasn't innocent or undeserving of the American Colonies wrath.

EyeBrock EyeBrock: Nicely done Fish-heads! Couldn't the CBC call it a 'colour' though? It's not a FLAG! It is a Flag, it was called by both Colour and Flag.

It's a Colour mate. HUGE difference to those of us who it matters to.
To civilians with no interest in these strange ways. It's a mere flag.
It obviously doesn't matter to you so, to you, it's a flag.

Odd to see the GG in a uniform. I would assumed that she's have a more queenly, less military outfit. For all her exaulted rank, I always cringe when I see people in uuniform who didn't do the time.

It obviously doesn't matter to you so, to you, it's a flag. Well, that's condescending. It is a Flag, to you it's a Colour. Fine, but it is a flag either way and like I said, the CBC and Officer interviewed called it Both and neither was obligated to only use one. The CBC was reporting the News primarily to Civilians, not to the Military, so forgive the use of the terms.

Nope, it's a Colour. Not being condescending, you know it's called a Colour but you call it a 'flag' in an attempt to wind me and others that stuff matters to. If you don't care, fine. But it's the Queen's Colour of the Canadian Forces Maritime Command. You can call it what you want and disrespect it as you please. The guys it matters to fight behind it regardless of your views.
