DerbyX DerbyX:
So what? I can say that virtually all people who hunt do so for sport rather then need.

They killed animals for their own enjoyment. How is that not animal cruelty also?

She killed a dog and skinned it. Are bear skin rugs illegal? Trophy heads?

She got charged only because it was an animal that our society protects above others for our own reasons.

revenge isn't the issue.

:x I knew this day would come. Derby and I agree on something.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
While I'm definitely not anti-hunting, I really don't see a use for killing animals for just their fur anymore. There are some places in the Far North where it may be necessary, but there is no reason someone needs a mink(or any other animal raised for its fur) coat, other than as a status symbol.

@ Yogi...... 8O sounds like you know this fact from experience.

I'll neither confirm, nor deny!

RUEZ RUEZ:
ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
how is it any sicker than making something out of fox or wolf?

Exactly my thought. As sick as this sounds, I have friends who go out and hunt bears. I don't see any difference other than the fact this was domesticated.

I have neighbours whose family members eat dog and have them as pets as well. The dog is both a pet and a food in this part of the world. The same goes for cats in areas of SE Asia (Viet Nam in particular). I for one can't see the attraction that people have for pot belly pigs as a pet. To me it's food. I hand raised several calves that we eventually butchered for food. They like, dogs were affectionate and competed for your attention when you were near them, but I didn't feel guilty about eating them later.

The motivation for killing the dog is the only thing twisted. It was intended as an act cruelty to the person who had a falling out with them.

Nice point, but wrong. Revenge was the motive, not a warm jacket.

Apples and oranges. You also need a liscence.

Stop the foolishness. Modern day hunters don't hunt for sport? Don't be stupid and argumentitive. I tree planted and we passed lots of dead bears in bait traps where they were shot not for food or fur but for sport.

You are wrong and are being stupid now. So what if she killed a dog for "revenge". She might just as well have cooked it.

The fact is that society does place certain animals above others and our society favours pets such as cats and dogs.

Your argument is based on emotional rather then fact.

When I hunted(jumper, elk and moose), most of the meat ended up in my freezer. Some of the hides became mukluks and mittens and jackets, some were donated to the Museum of Man and Nature, other parts became chew toys for my dogs. The only animal that I've hunted that I don't eat is bear(I've tried it and dound it too strong for my taste), but I know several people who like bear meat.

When we were up north, it was cheaper to eat game meat than buy meat from the Northern Store, so it was fairly essential. Moose is great fried, roasted or BBQd.

Oops... temper coming out. Tread water faster, you'll stay afloat.

Ever hunted before? Or are you once again guessing?

By the way, do you have a tattoo?

You know this how? Right... you're guessing. You are making an emotional judgement because it is something you dislike. See your comment below. More irony by the way.

When I was in basic, we had a number of Innuit fellas who had caribou jerky shipped to them weekly.

Damn... best jerky ever!

Neighbours gave us some woodland caribou once. It ended up as dog food.

No. That was explained to us by our foreman who was an expert of the region. The bears were essentially up for grabs.

Your ignorance shows through again.

And you are here crying about me. Pathetic. I guess you miss hwanker.

Actually its based on fact and law. Our laws (well our laws I could make a joke about scots and navy having sexual relations with farm animals but that would be wrong) do in fact place certain animals above others and we do differentiate between game, farm, and pet animals.

Thats fact. You are incorrect.

Gunnair Gunnair:
Says they guy spinning himself into the floor...

You know what? We got off to a horrific start. My bad as much as yours. Thats fair. We ignored each other until the native circle thread where I tried to honesty get you to answer. You did and things weren't bad. That guy showed up impersonating you and I dealt with it honorably and asked you outright if it was you. Your answer was good enough and I communicated that to all the other he was trying to con and they took my word of your word.

Up until now we had not had much conflict but you keep looking for it. I guess you miss hwanker. I wouldn't mind it if you made an effort to post substance. I might me locking horns with commanderkai but he at least is posting debatable points but you are just posing insulting shite from the sidelines.

If you were me you would be banned for being a flammer.

You dislike me? Fine. You disagree with me? Fine. Then post an argument rather then crybaby shite from the sidelines about me.

I may disagree with you but at least I was man enough to debate you spot on and give you the benefit of the doubt when somebody tried to impersonate you.

If I don't rate that highly then do the forum a favour and ignore me.
