More like the article was written by Jack layton.
From the title: "There's virtually nothing coming," NDP Leader Jack Layton said.

Ripcat is right with this.

I'm sure that the engineers who have to do all the planning are pleased as punch at the thought of having to speed things up just to keep an asshole like Jack Layton happy. This is an terrific illustration of how you can tell a politician or a party hack who's always looking for immediate poltical gain apart from anyone who works in the real world. Projects don't go forward immediately at light speed. There's about a million codes and procedures that have to be taken into account first, of which the majority are applied to ensure long-term safety. These things are deliberately designed for safety's sake not to be built fast, so it's pretty damn irresponsible for some choade like Layton to come along and start bleating about things not moving fast enough.

adscam all over again?

Why would that even come to mind?

There's an entire site desinated towards all of these projects, showing them all on a map, details, costs, etc.

It's not even close to comparable.

bootlegga bootlegga:

Conservative? yes. conservative? no.

So why on earth would a Conservative party table a non-conservative package? Are you suggesting that the opposition parties didn't play a role?

IMO, no one is innocent on this matter. I have contempt for all federal parties, not just the Tories.

Well, the Conservatives lost any moral ground when they did exactly what other minority governments have done in the past (like Martin and his deal with the NDP in 2005). Had they stuck to their prinicples and had an election, they could take the high road, but to label this as an 'opposition stimulus' package is specious at best.

They chose power over priniciples, period. I do however, agree with your cntempt for the federal political parties. None of them has shown me anything special of late.

I'll agree with you. It's not an opposition stimulus.

I am leaning towards calling it an Ottawa stimulus package, then blame federal politics in general.

My apologese, what I was alluding to was that Adscam is a great example of financial mismanagement, and that by simply shoving money out the door and hoping it will do some good, the conservatives might run into a similar problem.

Got a link for said website? I want to know what kinds of projects are going on across the country.

thanks for the website.

To bad projects don't come with simpel status updates:

Proposed
Approved
On Hold
Constrction
Completed
Canceled

Would help give people a better idea of just how much is actually underway then relying on fring parties to ring alarm bells whenever not neccisary.

Asking a little too much?

Would you prefer live webcam updates, too?

It's a lose/lose situation for Harper.

If he doesn't spend, he's threated to be taken down by a coalition. When he does spend, it's not fast enough.

Common sense. Let's use a little.

The only alarm bells are those of opportunity on behalf of the Liberal party. This has little to do with stimulus spending and all about the opportunity to regain power.

Dude, you totally missed the "Not neccisary" part of what I said.

And I don't think I'm askign too much at all. If the Harper government wants to show whats being done, give us project specific status updates so that it is up to the Canadian people to decide on their own whether or not enough has already been done, rather than being force-fed whatever propaganda their respective party's tell them.

It would be for the conservatives own benifit to do this.

And yes, a webcam or even just photographs of progress at some of these projects would certainly be appreciated.
