Not really.. I just think it would be good for natives to elect MPs...

:?

Change 'natives' to 'whites' and tell me how that reads.

Why can't a native be represented by a 'European' and vice versa? Is not suggesting that natives can only best represent themselves reinforce the dogmatism and racism that infects both communities?

Well I don't kind of agree with your statement Gunnair.. Its like putting a monolingual speaking person to head the Official Languages Department.. No matter,, some groups are not equally represented..

What a joke. First you have no clue that Chief Fontaine has done more for Canadians in the last 10 then almost all of Ottawa.

Then you expect me to believe that for the last 300 years of colonization that anyone in Ottawa has given a rats ass about First Nations?

How about having a minister in INAC who is actually know what being an Indian is like? Even if the policies don't help anyone at least you'd have a trusting fact to send the message instead of Chuck or Jim or Maurice "I've got an Indian friend so I know the issues" Vellecott.

You don't have to look too far to see less deserving people serving us in Ottawa.

Given that fact I challange you to explain why you don't think Phil deserves to be in Ottawa or why we don't deserve to be served by him.

I think Harper is the first in Ottawa to give a rats ass about First Nations. Too bad that he doesn't have the support that he needs to give the First Nations the break that it needs.

Speaking of noise...

Phil is a one trick pony who's political agenda does not suggest he'd serve European Canadians particularly well. He is prone to flash the race card in order to bully his agendas while inflicting no end of nonsensical historical guilt trips on modern Canadians. The racial card and historical guilt trips also serve to continue to oppress natives by hamstringing their social and economic development by bringing and bolstering the sense of victimhood that they have suffered
in the past, into the modern era.

Had he focused on the issues of political coruption, economic misapropriations at the band chief level, blatant criminal activity, gangsterism, and a host of other ills that are apparently none of the white man's business but can't be even remotely squared away by native self government, then I'd have a bit more time. Instead, he hopped on the "let's guilt the white man for more money to throw at our problems instead of showing accountability" agenda.

I challange you to explain how he'd make a good MP for all Canadians after his catastrophic failure as Grand Chief for natives.

Good riddence to bad garbage.

Careful there. That's a slippery slope you're teetering on. The second you say natives can only be represented by a native is when you open the door to ethnic partisanship. Chinese represented by Chinese, Sikhs by Sikhs - you get the picture.

That statement deserves special attention.

Thanks for coming out, Donny.
