EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Lemmy, different vocations.
And joining the military for most of us was/is a vocation.
It's not politics, its wanting to serve. A small proportion of us do actually want to serve.
Ich Dien.

I fully support our Armed Forces. I don't support politicians that use the armed services (and its history and sacrifice) as speech-material lip service to further their own selfish interests.

It might suprise you to find out that Harper is very popular in the CF and he spoke well at Normandy. I don't see your point.

I can recall some Liberal politicians getting Normandy and Norway mixed up (Paul Martin as PM) and Vimy and Vichy arse about face (the then Defence Minister McCallum).
Harper has credibility in the CF.

That's quickly changing. He might be more knowledgeable about the history, but his other attributes are recieving alot of negative opinion.

The troops like him. The vets like him. He spoke for the country, the vets and the troops. Does that bug a Liberal? Why?

Then he needs to re-assess his vocation. A dipper in the military? It's like having a Tory at the CBC. Wrong corporate culture.

So, the military only wants Conservatives? Starting to venture into prejudice/discrimination territory now.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Canadian_Mind is a Troop, EyeBrock.

No disrespect but the profile says soon to be qualified as a CF trooper.
.. and just as many socialists grow up and become more experienced, I expect his political opinions will mature also.

But everyone has their own opinion.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
If you get hit in the head with a bullet, it really doesn't matter if it was from a guy who voted for Martin.

A bullet is a bullet no matter what your little political alliance is.

Agreed. But most of the guys who are serving in the CF are not socialists. Just as most teachers or CBC employees don't vote Tory.

People gravitate to the coprporate cultures that they agree with or want to be in. Why would a socialist want to be in the military?

From the net version of Websters, socialism defined, dippers know and breathe this stuff:

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done
