Maybe we're really just an ancient penal colony for some alien civilization. We were the psychotic/violent elements they purged from their society long ago, and the UFOs are really just the guards coming around to make sure we haven't figured out a way to escape.

What I want to know is, that if there are UFO's/Aliens that are supposed to be so much more advanced than us then why haven't they just wiped us out already?
