I agree with your final point, but I want to err on the side of the family. The parents have the authority and responsibility to raise the child in the moral environment they see fit. Barring abuse, I don't really see any reason that the family should be criticized for making that decision. We can evaluate the validity of their conclusions, but the decision and the obligation on the part of the student are not negated by that. Obey your parents and whatnot.

As far as we see, this is just another example of a healthy, rebellious teenager deciding to break with what is expected of him.

And Hank Hill is a fine, upstanding, moral man!

I am not saying that their moral outlook can't be challenged. I like to think I have consistently stood for a rational religious perspective. I am saying that it is their final decision to make, until he becomes legally independent or they abuse their parental rights.

I strongly question that. Are you serious? Those must be pretty large degrees, or by "Muzzie fundies" you don't mean the ones that have women wear burkas and stone people for adultery.
Nope, I'm pretty myuch in agreement. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want to do that themselves.

WKids don't get much choice because it is their parents' decision. I can understand the desire for your own ability to choose, but until he reaches the age where he can make his own decisions, he should follow through with the rules as they stand, barring abuse or extenuating circumstances, for which this fairly obviously doesn't qualify.
Or he could just get himself expelled... I don't know, maybe he could say gosh darnit and see what happens. Fucking puritans.

I'm frankly glad he did this and brought the attention of people to their draconian rules so that they will be pressured into changing it. It's a form of protest. Good man.
