ridenrain ridenrain:
$1:
Ignatieff won 97 per cent of the votes of the 2000-odd delegates at the party's three-day convention.

All hail the glorious new czar of the party...

Since he was the only candidate on the ballot, who did the 3% vote for?

It could have been different.. but hey.. guess you can now say both parties have a crown head.. one chosen the other self appointed..lol

Relity of it was that the Professor couldn't beat Dion for leadership of the party before so I wonder how united and solid they'll be this time. :D

Dion was a sacrificial lamb. The liberals knew thay had no chance of winning and they didn't want to waste one of the better leadership hopefulls on a sure loss.

The Conservatives did the same thing a few years back with Kim Campbell, but at least they got to claim the first woman PM.

Kim wasn't appointed, she was elected.

$1:
In February, Prime Minister Brian Mulroney announced his retirement from politics. Campbell defeated Jean Charest at the Progressive Conservative leadership convention that June, and Governor General Ray Hnatyshyn formally appointed her Prime Minister on June 25

In fact.. reading a little more..
$1:
she had served in four cabinet portfolios prior to running for the party leadership and had more experience than eleven of the 18 men who preceded her as prime minister, including Joe Clark and Brian Mulroney, who had no cabinet experience whatsoever, and Pierre Trudeau, who had served only one year as Minister of Justice.

So how much experience does Iggy have? Did he ever hold a cabinet post, chair a comission, write a bill?? Do anything except be appointed leader?

Well Kim was never elected and she was successful in reducing the PC to 2.. repeat 2 seats.. Chretien was kind enough to give her a job, something her own party didn't do.. She would have been out on her ass. And it was the negative ads demeaning people that the PCs are so famous for that caused it.. She allowed ads attacking M. Chretien and his facial paralysis and his accent.. backfired on her big time. But who was the bigger person in this? Chretien who gave her a job.. As far as Iggy goes he is brilliant,, super educated and well known in political circles world wide.. unlike Ahole that is sitting in the closet on his throne.. Maybe the country will get lucky again and reduce these twits to non party status.. Its time for change and you know it!

What we needed is a real PC party running things for a few years. Not this bastardized Reform party with Harper running it.
The only reason he got in is because the Libs screwed up so bad that they were unelectable.
if Iggy plays his cards right, and doesn't get too cocky, he may do ok.

he better let harper get rid on long gun registration first though.

Ignatieff is no better than Dion, when will the liberals get a real leader? I have voted for them in the past but Chretien ended that and IMO they've gone downhill from there!

Only in your dreams. I did vote liberal until they couldn't find a decent leader but you may believe what you like, the liberals are also over governing until they get some real leadership so I hope your over that too!

Wow, I so knew Iggy would try and rip off Barrack Obama...

Duh, lol. With 80% of Canada in love with Obama, every politician wants to ride those coattails.

Oh politics....

Which is still so fucking pathetic... >_<
