The places where cell phone use is most prevalent is in countries where it doesn't make sense to lay land lines, such as most of Africa and the Middle East.

I've got a land line, but it's Vonage over dry-loop DSL rather than dealing with Bell. For $45/mo, I can call anywhere in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, and Puerto Rico for no additional charge.

EE land line companies lose 10-15% market per year, they cant
give it away anymore.

musta been something to do with waiting 2-3 years for a phone line
in the before time, and not much changing since.
