Maybe people (countries) are more generous into giving more positive points to something they (knowingly) don't know anything about. What does Turkey know about Canada? I haven't read any past dealings with them concerning the two countries on anything.....Russia? That's easy, hockey.

Although from those poll numbers from certain countries, its funny how it jumps almost 20 percent (from our best friends the States????) from 10 percent. Wasn't aware we were so active on a global scale.

My guess would have to do with our involvement in the Afghanistan War, these wars have gotten really bad PR from the world no matter what. I would bet any money that if we never entered it and kept our peace keeping image. We would have probally did better, but personally I say who cares what others thing about us? Afghanistan was a right choice IMO. Trying to re-build afghanistan, which allowed us to re-build our military which will allow us to do better at future peace keeping missions and military missions.

I would say joining Afghanistan in the long run will be better off for both Afghanistan and Canada.

That's just my opinion on it, however I have no idea why germany is considered so awesome of all of a sudden. Is it because everybody loves there beer?

Turkey is pissed off at us over the Armenian genocide they are accused of in the early 20th century. Our recently calling it 'genocide' in Parliament really annoyed Turkey's government and media.

Russia just wants to be the CCCP again and see's Canada as a loyal ally to the US. They don't like us having combat troops in a region they see as in their sphere of influence (Afghanistan)and they are beginning to realise their territorial claims in the Arctic will not be upheld in international arbitration.

The media have succeed in painting Israel as the bad guy yet again as this 'article' compares Israel with Pakistan and Iran as the most unpopular.

Germany isn't invading other places, killing civilians and aid flow. They learned their lesson, seems some don't and yes the irony is there.

Mmmm, I am yet to be convinced on German coolness. I worked with the Bundswere and the Luftwaffe and found them to be very able and quite decent guys.
The problem is that they still have the untermenchen mentality. And they still don't like jews.

don't you mean uber rather than unter? That anti semetic attitude tends to permeate Europeans in general though(eastern Europeans are even worse), the Germans just don't mask theirs as well as others do.

My comment was not based on the article, it was based on the responses of the article. How people were talking about why Russia would hate Canada, etc. So yes I read the article.
