They can track me whenever they want. I have a cell, they can anyway. Who cares? No one cares who I am, what I do, where I go or who with.
*shrugs*

I love how know one realizes this RFID can easily be used to track someone. Think about it, you pass by a cell tower what every 5 mins?. We can already tell where you are within 10 meters, without the use of any RFID. RFID would make it even easier.

Exactly, within seconds of making a 911 call the cops know exactly which tower it bounces off of and where.Good thing too because by the time someone actually places the call their usually in dire strait's.

It takes more then one cell tower to track someone. It probably takes at least three.

When the RCMP control radio's a cop here for a 911 hangup they know exactly which tower it came off and relay that info within minutes.Maybe your thinking of triangulation but that's old school, they dont have to go that route now.

Sure you can tell exactly which tower it came from, but since a tower can pick up signals from 360 degrees it doesn't help you much.

The address and phone number come with the 911 call, most phone's also have the gps enabled by default.

I know 4 people that are alive today because of this feature.
I remember when folks were all upset by CC cams but look how that worked out.

GPS uses sattelites not towers.

Really? I didnt know that.

When you make a 911 call from your phone sat's and towers are used to find you bud.
The tower first because it give's your address and the gps if your down.EMS and the cops both use this technology.

A gps enabled phone would send 911 your co-ordinates not your tower location like you originally said, so I guess you didn't know that. Would you like me to explain how a gps system works?

A 911 call will give your physical address to the cops,if it was made on a cellphone they would most likely give the coord's to the controller who would then give it back to the cops or EMS.
I have a couple GPS's,I dont need an amatuer to try explain how one works.

In the Arctic gps was my lifeline.Without it I would have died.

I think you do need a refresher from this "amateur". Your address for the phone means nothing for a 911 call from a cell phone. You've already mixed the two technologies together. You said within seconds of making a call the police would know which tower your call came from. That may be true but it doesn't do them any good. Then you said triangulation was the old method, yet GPS also uses triangulation. I love arguing with you ziggy. You know so much about so little.

A lot of phones don't have GPS. Just the week before last, a guy was out on Lake Winnipeg snowmobiling with his kids. He passed out and died while his kids made it to shore, but got stuck in a drift by the mouth of the Red River. It was by using a compass and a cell phone that the son was able to direct searchers to their location. The police knew the location of the closest tower that the signal was coming off of, it had nothing to do with a satellite.

Well if I had to take lessons from you on how to run a gps I probably would be dead by now.

The cops know exactly what tower your cell phone call came from, dont believe me then ask a cop or make a 911 hangup call and see how fast they are at your front door.

Your cellphone is probably in gps mode right now and you dont even know it.
Most are and it's a good thing.

Exactly, with the new telus towers in Alberta now and cell phones not useing the old bag phone freek's above 900 mghz the calls can be tracked to the nearest tower and go from there.
