10 degrees for every 100 feet, if I remember correctally.

And Icelands not the only place that has hot springs.
I did a few years as an exploration driller in the rockies,at about 100 meters the water coming out is fairly warm, the underground miners here worked in t shirts,no winter underground,it's allways the same temperature and warmer the lower you go.

Geothermal.lets start drilling holes into the earths innards and pumping the hot water to surface and running turbines.

Geothermal works well for Iceland, I'm sure we could make it work here in Canada, although we'd need a geologically active zone to really have a go at it. I'd like to see Tidal power given a shot, we have some of the largest tides on earth in the Bay of Fundy and Ungava Bay, why not harness some of that power?

Trying some of that off Portugal, and I think Britain too.
Output vs input isnt that great, and the amounts of power generated
arent really impressive.

I think we will see a revival in nuclear, its safe, cheap,
clean, and meets the needs; hopefully they can get fusion under control
soon, then energy will not be such a big deal for the people to worry about.

I think there will be a Nuclear revival too... but it would be cool to try to get some of these alternative energy sources off the ground, and make them practical and attractive alternatives to Coal/Nuclear/Hydro power.

Alberta is an energy province, filled with some of the the best experts in the world, this is good. Our technology and experts are sent all over the world.
Most dont hear about the good things we do as far as environmentally making flaring safer and cleaner or who pays for it or who sets the benchmarks for the best enviro work in Canada, they just hear about 500 dead birds at a settling pond in fort mac.
