Most people do not realize that Alberta legislation does not allow for a deficit budget. All budgets must at minimum break even or produce a surplus. With $37.00 oil Stemach has no choice, but to slash expensive services so the province can live within the new economic reality.
No different than a family that loses one income or where an individual got downsized and the new job only pays 1/3 of the old job. A drastic life style change is required.
The ROC needs to understand that that applies to them as well. There must be less government handouts so we do not leave an American sized debt for the next generation. Look to your province for government subsidy programs like child care, health services, etc to see where the cuts have to be. Then make the painful decision and do it fast before the debt balloons out of control.
