$1:

They'll soon be lining up to apply for those Walmart and Mcds jobs
I was fortunate in the early 80's to have a part time job pumping gas or stocking shelves at Shoppers Drug Mart for just above minimum wage. When I was in the 12th grade a friend and I started our own company , we looked after all the friggen houses the bank repoed , cutting the lawns in the summer and shoveling the sidewalks in the winter.

That's the attitude you need, put your head down, hair straight back and things arent as bad as most make it out to be.I'm kinda used to it now, started working in 78 just when things were going south.I was making 30 cents a tree in the bush for swamping and i got 50 cents for felling,65 cents if it was a bigger tree.Weekends i would hit the bush party spots and scoop about $50.00 worth of bottles. Thought the mines in 82 looked promising untill the BC govt decided to subsidize and build north east coal which once again put about 3000 more out of work. Then the strikes and shutdowns started, work sharing was implemented, food banks were set up.

Sometimes it takes a disaster to wake some people up and appreciate things more.
Like a job.

Amen. There's going to a lot of "awakening" over the next couple of years.

For sure,history repeats itself.
Too bad you have to bail some out so they dont hurt so bad, cant keep those high rollers from feeling the pinch like the rest of us working people will be doing.

This is unlike the last recession where everyone took a cut.I guess some peoples high paying job's are more important then others are.

Here's an idea. We let the autocompanies go tits up and we re-hire them through the government to public service work, at 60% of the CAW wage. We'd be paying more than EI, but they'd be working for their money AND we don't get held up by the BIG 3....(F%$Jing Pirates).

I was simply stating the irony of Stephen Harper stating how good the economy was when was running for PM again and all of a sudden when he get's elected it's all bad news regarding it.

I had no doubts myself that the economy would fail, I never said it diddn't. I also never compared this time to the 80's or any of the other stuff all you guys are stating about me.

As for the military correcting my devotion to the NDP. No need, Jack already did that for me.
