Yep, Boston has been scary good this year...a far cry from their performance in resent years. They could come out of the east, but I do hope for Montreal this year, their anniversary year and all.

They need Cary Price back, ASAP. Be nice to see a little more consistency from Tanguay too.

Why is P.O'd, T.G. We had the room on our salary cap anyways. It's a one year deal. Would we have done any better on the free agent market at the deadline? I don't think so. He's not Messier, the "Dream Canuck" who was going to rebuild the team. Sundin's an addition--a guy who scores big goals.

I like the deal. Mrs Zip isn't crazy about it either. But I think the Canucks will be bringing home the Cup this year!

I don't think so. Maybe if Sundin turned it on big time and went on a six month tear. But he's almost 40, he's on the decline, and he's joining the season late. That leaves him prone to injury.

But if Sundin does surprise everyone, and Luongo comes back, Bieksa stays healthy, and everything else falls into place, maybe.

I smell another Messier debacle!

I hope that it does not turn out that way.

I guess we will have to put aside the fact they he played for the Leafs. Not easy to do.

It's not the same as the Messier debacle at ALL! The only thing remotely similiar is the ages of the Players involved.

Messier was brought in to be a leader, the saviour of the franchise. "The greatest leader in the history of Sport!" It happened in the off season. They stripped the Captains "C" off the only Captain in Vancouver at that time. That act immediately divided the room then they dealt Linden out of town 7 Months later.

Messier taught Naslund to be a leader, Bure got hurt seriously (we didn't have the top notch players we now have) and the players we got for Linden and then later Mogilny became the basis of the core of our team in the early 2000's.

Messier walked into town jumped at the money offer and signed a 3 year 18 million dollar deal (6 million per year). He then slept and sleepwalked his team through three disasterous season that needed the guidence of Brian Burke to figure out.

Mark Messier filled his boots when he was here and then left.

By Comparison.

Mats is not creating a disturbance by coming into the room like Messier did.

Mats took his time on whether he even wanted to play again. He now has the fire he wants to play and compete at the highest level again. He is coming in here and displacing 1 player back down to the farm (manitoba) thats it a Center more than likely Jaffray.)

Mats is only here for the remainder of this year (season) he signed a 1 year deal that even left the Canucks with Cap space at the deadline so they can add 1 or two more pieces if we need them at the deadline.

Mats through his career has been more than a point a game player. He's smart, he's a leader but he doesn't need a "C" to do that. He won't have a letter here. We have added a 6'5" center.. we've never had a big center who has a great skill package. The thought of Demitra Sundin and Wellwood or Bernier will be great. It also gives the Canucks a 1-2 punch again. Now the Sedin's don't have to solidly go up against the #1 defensive unit all the time.

We will have 2 scoring lines now, 1 great agitation checking line and a good energy line. We have a decent NHL defence and one of the best goalies in the games ( he''l be back in January.)

Mats will be good for the Canucks.. It's not a long term it's only a 5.8 Million dollar cap hit, and we still have space to add.

Yeah, lol. The Sedin and Sundin thing will be confusing for some people.
