Stokes, don't pay much attention to what Blair says. He's wrong often, just like he is with the post above.
The "Home brew" must be kicking in.

Don't be ridiculous Blair. I knew about the increasing leverage being taken onto the balance sheets of Wall Street, the insane decisions by the regulators to allow it to happen, the idiotic behavior in the housing market and the disastrous policies of Alan Greenspan long before you even knew what a Bear Stearns or a Lehman or a Fannie Mae were. I actively bet against this Ponzi scheme house of cards and won.

No, I think we'll ultimately see either lower lows or a retest of the lows seen on Friday. I think we could rally pretty sharply over the next few weeks, and perhaps closer higher for the year, but there are simply too many difficulties in the global economy right now. The world is going through a giant de-leveraging as bad debt is washed away. Commodity prices will also get whacked after the bounce. Don't be surprised to see $50 or $60 oil some time next year. This will effect Canada, and housing in Canada is in for a fairly substantial decline.

I didn't realize how personal it was until my dad got home from overseas today and checked our investments.
My RESP is down 21%, and my parents mutual funds are down 20%.
I've probably lost around $5,000 from my education fund in the last month.
How long until you're ready for post secondary?
I start university September 2010.

I would sell right after the upcoming rally. I would expect that the markets will bounce back by the end of the year but they could stagnate in 2009.
Needing this money in only 2 years leads me to beleive that your investments are overly exposed to equities. Start moving your portfolio over to fixed income investments as the market recovers.
