If tanning leads to cancer which leads to $$$ from my pocket being spent on fixing the skin problem then I demand that the user, or should I say the abuser, pay.

I haven't done any research, but my recollection is that the motorcycle helmet laws in the provices and states were passed by both left and right (conservative/liberal, republican/democrat), as an example.

.. on no.. not the helmet laws again.. Individual states and provinces have their own rights to assign their own regulations on motorcycle helmets. Like seatbelts, the data FOR manditory standars helmets is so overwhelming that it really has wverything to do with smart and dumb, not left & right.

novachick novachick: uwish uwish: here we ago, more lefty bans and regulations
conform or die! I'm curious about why you would see regulations that protect the health of children as a bad thing ![huh? [huh]](./images/smilies/icon_scratch.gif) Exactly right. Hysterical cons think that any form of regulation is inherently bad yet they want all kinds of harsh laws and punishment. Tanning is damaging the skin and does cause skin cancer. The link is irrefutable and an industry that essentially artificially damages your skin deserves to be regulated no different then any number of industries.

I cannot understand the need to fake-bake anyways. When you step outside in February and it looks like you just spent a week in the Carribean, it makes you look stupid. You can usually pick out the fake-bakers easily. I find it a huge turn-off. Natural tans, light or dark, are much more pleasing to the eye.

Exactly.. All those out of work auto workers can go inspect tanning beds or picking up plastic bags for $36 an hour... After all, dosen't everyone in Ontario already work for the government anyways? Seriously.. with all the things that are going wrong in Ontario, these are really low down on the list.

Tricks Tricks: Yeah I have to agree. I hate these fucking things. A tan is burnt and damaged skin. Its no different then BBQ'ing a steak. A tan is medium rare while a sunburn is well-done. Add to that the significant risk of skin cancer and I'll be happy keeping my fish belly white complextion thank you very much!

Well I wouldn't go that far. But I'd rather have it naturally then look orange.

Oh, I think this should be expanded on, all across Canada and to the point of regulating how much anyone uses a tanning bed. There is only one reason for this....For those who do use these tanning bed... "TOO" much, news flash, YOU LOOK LIKE SHIT!.... Oy, they should regulate them so the rest of us don't have to look at orange leather people.

The only example you need is Alberta. We've had an uninterrupted string of right-wing governments for 60+ years. Is stuff banned here, or restricted? Hell yes. So there you go.

I can't think of anything that affects my life here that is banned. Things Alberta has Banned: Expiry dates on gift cards.Spring fishing.Smoking in all sorts of public places.Fireworks, for the most part. Now I'm not saying these bans are bad things. In fact, I agree with almost every one of them. But to say that Alberta has no bans or restrictions (You have to wear helmets and seatbelts here, too), is not true. To claim that only leftists call for restrictions and regulations is just not true.
