I want him to pull a Jean and punch some leftist protester out or at least choke the SOB, maybe even beat him over the head with some native art. Will I see that this election or is Harper's packaging too air tight? I mean the only time I saw this gut lighten up is when Rick Mercer had a sleep over, how long about was that? The woolly sweater holding cuddle little dogs bit is crap.

Reverend Blair Reverend Blair: Why is Harper afraid of the press? Why is he afraid of the public? Why is he afraid of real democracy?
Harper is a coward who hides from anybody who might challenge him. He's afraid to let his candidates talk to the media or the people. Harper is no coward--I say this a liberal. I have a lot of respect for the man, partly because I was brought up to honour our Prime Minister, and I'm teaching my kids to do the same, and partly because I can accuse him of a lot of things, but backing down isn't one of them. But yes, he does have an almost neurotic need to control the message. Not just during the lection, but since he's gained power. I think he sees the bureaucracy as his enemy (maybe the Conservatives are too used ot being in opposition and are having trouble adapting to power), so he regularly muzzles his top bureaucrats, and especially his scientists. He muzzles his own Ministers; everything must go through the his office (Privy Council). He can't control the press, but he certainly tries to control their access.

oooo sorry would u like to throw another tantrum? I have more tissues? Oh, shut up already. First, Phrases like "go home and let the adults talk, ok?" are extremely childish in and of themselves. Second, we are well aware of the results. Frankly, who cares? If anything, most people saw this coming. Whether or not it's a good thing is left to be seen... Third, on the subject of tantrums, the Conservatives were in the exact same position as the Liberals are right now, and you guys would not stop your bitching and crying and complaining.I think it's safe to say that by looking at what some people post on these forums, we can all decide and plainly see for ourselves who the children are...

Nice adult way to argue this one Demo-Derby.
The media isn't Conservatives friendly so there's no point in dealing with them because they won't get a fair shake whatever they do. That's the reason for the tight media muzzle and you Liberals should at least have the honesty to remember the discipline that Chretien demanded.
Come back and bitch after 3 CPC majorities and then you'll have the right to do so.

they seem to think that the improper relations between the hierarchy of the CBC and the liberal party are fine for a publicly funded broadcaster.
I guess a liberals definition of corruption and ethics is much different than everyone elses.

Funny how you guys bitch about the media not being conservative firendly yet the entire Sun newspaper chain is conservative, the National Post is, any western TV station certainly is. In fact this whole media bias thing is just crap by people who consider anything but glowing pieces of praise to be proof of bias against them. Seems to me that very often you and your fellow cons quote the Toronto Star for a piece that is downright hostile to the Liberals and/or complimentary to Harper. As for Chretien, you are the worst person for attacking him for doing what you now consider not only acceptable but very wise of Harper. Once again you prove my point about all your BS about hating the usual politics and openly praising Harper (last election anyway) for his "openess and accountability" was just that, BS. If you truly believed anything you post about you would be a staunch NDP supporter right now. You aren't therefore you are either; dishonest; hypocritical, or so blinded to your own parties corruption you would smile and ask for another one if Harper kicked you in the teeth. Which is it?

I don't see much evidence that the media is biased against conservatives. That's just a common myth propagated by Conservatives in order to--you geussed it--control the message. The ironic part is that it's often right-wing media figures in the media who are telling us this. If you decide not to deal with the media, then you shouldn't be surpised that your government gets lableled secretive, since the media is most people get their information about the government.

How does that feel to such a devoted party worker, Derby? That an ex-party leader is saying that you guys need a big loss to shock some sense into you're thick heads? What do you say when you're own people say that the effects and corruption of ADSCAM still smell up the party so bad they want you to lose?
You're the one that needs to look for a new party.
