The analogy I use is homemade beer or wine. Both are legal and because it's so easy and common to make, there's little chance you can make money from it. That would take the orgamized crime out of it here but people would still smuggle it down south and that would screw up the border a great deal. To nake people think twice about that, I'd ramp up the siezure laws and make smuggling drugs a major crime with major US time.

You are absolutely right. It may also prevent people from dealing with what I call multi-dealers ( selling weed along with crack, etc). Weed is not going to hurt you in fact it's a hell of a lot better for you ( side effects) than many pain killers, tranquillizers etc your local family doctor is pushing. I totally support what you are saying it just will never happen because too many drug companies, politicians stand to lose too much money. Judges, police departments, jail's, right down to your piss testing companies will see budget cuts and job loss. Stigmatizing it and keeping it in the criminal code, keeping it in the hands of drug cartels is what they want because that keeps them in a job.

I can't see that. Just as the alcohol based snake oil remedies or the latest gin-sing cold cures are fake, pot also isn't a replacement for drugs. I don't see them as competition for the drug industry. I guess I'm not very holistic but I can't see people wanting to take snake oil thinking their actual medical problems are going to go away.

I think it might help with some pain management, but if I get a sore back I would much rather take a muscle relaxant then a joint. I can at least function normally on a muscle relaxant.

Really? The doctor had me on some higher end muscle relaxants when I threw out my back and I couldn't do anything. I was wrecked every time.

I can understand what your saying but do some research on benzodiazepines ( ativan etc). A large part of the population in Canada has either taken or are life time users of these types of drugs. They are legal, handed out by your Doctor and have a multitude of negative side effects including addiction and overdose. You can legally drive a car, work while you are under the effect of these drugs ( illegal to do so with weed) . No, weed is not going to regulate blood pressure, blood sugar levels. It does however act in the body exactly the same as anti-anxiety and many prescription pain killers. I have many doctors agreement on that. What it doesn't have is the some times life threatening side effects as many prescription medications. Think of Percocet, Oxycontin, Dilaudid all of which have become street drugs since their introduction. All are highly addictive, withdrawal can lead to death, overdose can lead to death. There are no known deaths ever by overdose of weed, it is not physically addictive and no risk factors during withdrawal. Scary when you think that paper being legally pushed across the desk somewhere in Canada today is going to result in long term addiction and possibly ending in death, because someone broke a leg, is under stress and having anxiety attacks. Some where else in Canada someone else is doing some research going holy crap, tearing up the prescription the doctor just gave them . Picking up a phone, finding some weed and getting well. These are all facts, not snake oil, just the simple truth.

Depends on what you call a muscle relaxant. Weed is the same as alcohol or any prescription drug. You can drink a beer or a case of beer, the effect is different. You can still function normally when smoking weed, it all in the amount and ratio of bud too leaf you smoke.

How accurate is that to determining strength though?

It is exactly the same as any prescription medication, you shouldn't drive a car blah blah until you know how a medication is going to effect you. If you fill a joint with pure bud, smoke the whole thing you maybe are gonna wanna fall off your chair. Make a smaller joint with mostly leaf , don't smoke the whole thing your not going to be "wrecked" . The effect is as individual to a person as any drug. I've seen OTC tylenol "wreck" some people if they take two instead of one.

It was Robaxacil C, Extra strength stuff. All of my prescriptions are back in Saint John, so I couldn't be sure.

Robaxisal C is an OTC medication, which I've used and found to be worthless. Prescription muscle relaxants include Flexril and Baclofen, which can cause problems if overused.
