I've never heard of him trying to ban books.

He pretty much has to try to define himself because he forgot to do that when he should have. Worse yet, he allowed Harper to define him. It was a huge political blunder.

I've been watching this pretty closely though, being pretty much trapped on my couch/bunker, and I think Dion is having at least some success redefining himself. At the very least he has shown the Conservative portrayal of him to be untrue.

Just as importantly, I think Harper is trying just as hard to redefine himself and has failed dismally. Nobody is buying the Uncle Fuzzy thing.

Call me ignorant but I didnt even know the man was married, I have heard more about his dog "Kyoto" than his "loving" Family, so to all of a sudden call him a family man doesnt seem right to me. He is a dog owner so he could be outdoorsy but who knows he doesnt communicate who he is very well, and if he cant do that with us how can we expect him to represent us on the world stage!!

Well, nobody used to. Harper made it an issue with his attacks on Dion though. The subtext of Harper's claims to being a "family man" is that none of the other leaders are. They all have kids, they are all all family people, they all come from the upper echelons of the upper class, they all went to university, they all enjoy one outdoor sport or another. None of it should matter to the election.

Harper has slated this as an issue-free campaign. He doesn't want to talk about the environment, he doesn't want to talk about the economy, and he sure as hell doesn't want to talk about health care. he thought he could make it dirty and personal, just like he's done with parliament, but we're three days in and it's not working out for him. He's been on the defense since noon Sunday.

After watching Dion�s desk pounding, frothing at the mouth speech calling Harper a liar yesterday, it made me think that who ever it is that�s trying to make him look like a tough guy needs to rethink this plan. Just like the little dog your friend has, that snaps at your feet every time you move them and then barks and growls to pretend to be a big mean dog protecting the house. Is still, at the end of the day nothing more than an annoying ankle bitter.

He has to look tough to talk tough, maybe cut the sleeve�s off his suits and get him some tattoo�s.
