llama66 llama66:
Canada was obliged, mutual protection clauses were enacted, Canada HAD to respond.

Once again, carefully read the North Atlantic Treaty.

Canada was under no obligation to participate in A-stan.

Wrong. This is a NATO war. And Canada is a part of NATO. NATO is an alliance that Canada joined willingly, and thus Canada must take part in NATO operations as per the alliance agreement. Plus, where does anybody get that the Americans aren't actively engaged in Afghanistan? Seriously is the West THAT dependent on the Americans to fight in NATO that we need to cry that they aren't leading in every single operation taken place?

Carefully read the North Atlantic Treaty.

Canada was under no obligation to send her army to Afghanistan.

Yes we were. Just to SHOW you the treaty

http://www.nato.int/docu/basictxt/treaty.htm

$1:
Article 5

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security .

Let's see...the United States was attacked. The United States, in coordination of all the other alliance members, INCLUDING CANADA, took part in an operation using armed force in which the United States, as well as NATO itself deemed necessary. That attack thus led to assisting in the securing of the North Atlantic by attacking a stronghold of terrorist training and recruitment from operating at peak efficiency at it would have before the invasion.

Reading comprehension not your forte, eh?

Sadly Streaker is right, this is an American made nightmare. The ISI spawned the Pashtun insurgency that we call the Taliban and the Pakistani Intelligence was funded directly by the US under Clinton no less. We have a UN/NATO mandate to be there now but to strike at the root is to understand that the evil spawned here was the same evil spawned under Prescott Bush when he funded the Nazi's untill 1942 when he was ordered not to.

Now that this genie has been released though we have as much option as we did in 1942. We must fight the Taliban now and there are no where near the troops needed and we can not turn back now.

Streaker Streaker:
PENATRATOR PENATRATOR:
Removing from power a government who supports people willing to take their own lives in order to kill anybody from the west by allowing them to use Afghanistan as a training ground does not constitute an American war, it is being a responsible nation on the world stage to keep this gov and it's supporters from power, it's messy and it's a dirty job, but that's why we have soldiers, to do the neccessary dirty work and to keep the fight over there not on the streets of Canada. So keep your misguided low opinions of our service personel coming Streak, you live in a place where that's your right.

Invading their homes and killing their kids pretty much assures us that someday they will bring their fight here.

Don't delude yourself into believing that what you're doing in A-stan is making us any safer back home in Canada.

man, what kind of Liberal glue are your sniffing? I can't believe you are that blind...oooo wait a minute your a LIEBERAL of course your blind

to common sense. Well good luck with your carbon tax shaft plan, hug a thug, ban everything social engineering experiment. Just wait until the majority CPC.

Then we can FORCE idiots like you to do things you don't like. Just so you know what it feels like, kinda similar to the last 14 years under that crooked face guy and dithers.

Correct. Gordon O'Conner, defense minister of the time said "We are in Afganistan in retribution for 9/11".

Well, guess what. 9/11 was a lie and now our fellow country men are dying because of it. It disgusts me.

I agree that the liberals are crooked, but having a majority Conservative government will ruin everything good about this country. If you want concentration camps, go to America. Dont' bring that shit here and voting Harper will do just that.

The man is more crooked than anyone else in Canada and has done nothing but lie every since he's been elected. He will force the North American Union. He will force a disappearance of the middle class. He will continue to let our countrymen die in a 100 year war on terror that is built on lies.

This man is dangerous and you blind neo-con supporters will help him ruin this country if you don't wake the hell up.
