Scape Scape:

Oh God it was mistranslated..blah blah blah. Even Wikipedia realizes that on Iran's own website they quoted the speech in their own English version of it. Please

Oh here's the NYT article on it. I used to have the exact quote a while back when Rationalist made the same sad argument.

This is a great video, but how does it help support whatever point you are trying to make?

By checking the inevitable 'blinders-on' counter-argument which I am expecting. You know, the you hate America crowd that always emerges when critical thinking is applied to foreign policy.

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand. Is this video Iranian in origin? Could I have a few more details? How does it apply? Do you agree/disagree with it?

She is a heretic in their eyes but is in fact a secular humanist. I myself am Roman Catholic but have more in common with a heathen or secular humanist myself. She scolded Muslims for treating non-Muslims differently and for not recognizing the accomplishments of non-Muslim society, while using its wealth and technology. She is critiquing the Muslims as a whole who think they are above reproach because the only ones who can be right are themselves much like the people who seek to attack Iran.

However, in context to the current discussion I am holding her up as an example of the value of critical thought especially in the light of commonly held beliefs propagated by a media that has a stake in the outcome. In as much as her words sting and repugnant her detractors so to does the thought of the idea of a democratic Israeli state as proposed by Iran is repugnant to the people who are currently in control in Tel Aviv. In other words, who are we to tell them how to run their country when we do not abide by the same principals of a free society ourselves?

I get soooo tired of the BS. People siding with countries like Iran are fools. They wouldn't stand living there for a moment after Canada. Their country bows to a dictator. Their people are poor and miserable while there government is rich and trying to calm their people by blaming us!!! We complain about our country, try Iran and complain about your government. I have far more faith in a Democratic country.

World War 3 is on the horizon. Everything is leading to it. Here's a geographical map showing the two sides. Are you white or Blue?

We're Blue.

Think I'm being dumb? Keep watching. 8O

Bush backs Israeli plan for strike on Iran

$1:
President George W Bush has told the Israeli government that he may be prepared to approve a future military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiations with Tehran break down, according to a senior Pentagon official.

Despite the opposition of his own generals and widespread scepticism that America is ready to risk the military, political and economic consequences of an airborne strike on Iran, the president has given an "amber light" to an Israeli plan to attack Iran's main nuclear sites with long-range bombing sorties, the official told The Sunday Times.

"Amber means get on with your preparations, stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you're ready," the official said. But the Israelis have also been told that they can expect no help from American forces and will not be able to use US military bases in Iraq for logistical support.

Nor is it certain that Bush's amber light would ever turn to green without irrefutable evidence of lethal Iranian hostility. Tehran's test launches of medium-range ballistic missiles last week were seen in Washington as provocative and poorly judged, but both the Pentagon and the CIA concluded that they did not represent an immediate threat of attack against Israeli or US targets.

"It's really all down to the Israelis," the Pentagon official added. "This administration will not attack Iran. This has already been decided. But the president is really preoccupied with the nuclear threat against Israel and I know he doesn't believe that anything but force will deter Iran."
