DerbyX DerbyX: bootlegga bootlegga: I have to admit I'm divided on this debate.
I think that consumers should be aware of what their everyday decisions do to the environment, but I'm not sure about Dion's carbon tax. A big part of my skepticism is the 'revenue-neutral' bit. The GST was supposed to be to, and we all know how that worked out. The GST was supposed to be revenue neutral? I thought it was designed to help dig us out of debt. nope, when Mulroney brought it forward, it was supposed to replace a manufacturing sales tax of 13.5%, which made our industries supposedly uncompetitive. It was promoted as a revenue neutral tax (meaning the government wouldn't get more taxes than it already received). What it did do was shift the tax burden from corporations to individuals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goods_and_ ... 8Canada%29I realize it's Wikipedia, but try finding a newslink from 1990...

Can anyone say WESTERN SEPARATION .
This is great. If there are enough imbiciles in the country to elect Mr. Krieber-Dion, and he actually implements his hare brained green tax scheme, it'll be the end of Canada as we know it and he'll go down in history as the PM that destroyed the country.
As the matter of fact he may even make Trudeau look good, which is a pretty hard thing to do.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: I believe that a pollution tax on Automobiles would be more fitting. Let's see how Onro's manufacturing sector likes that one. Please tell me your running for office because you've all ready got my vote

I'd say we'd fight ya, before we let you take the land. You can go ahead and leave, but the land stays Canada.

If Qatar can be an independent country, so could Alberta. And my guess is, Saskatchewan might join them.

Oh please, we if we went to war you'd be sitting there at the boarder in your smart cars and all you'd see would be huge wall of 3/4 ton 4x4 pick up trucks coming at you. We'd stream roll ya. Or maybe we would put economic pressure on you by cornering the worlds supply of granola until you were forced to join us! AH -HA!

The provincial boundries for BC don't start at Point Grey and end in Chilliwack like alot of people seem to think. There's alot of province that doesn't think act or want to be like the lower mainland. As the matter of fact most of the rest of the province outside the Greater Vancouver area has more in common with Alta than Ont. Maybe if the harebrained one gets elected it's time to revisit the idea of Cascadia, since the US government treats their Northwest like Ontario treats the western provinces. I agree the land stays Canada, it's just that it'll be a seperate country called Western Canada. But if you really want to try and come take it back, your more than welcome, but don't forget to trade in your birkenstocks for some good solid kodiak hiking boots, since it'll be a long walk home.

If Dion implements this tax you won't have to worry about it because we're gonna develop green houses to feed everyone and we won't need farmers. (Joke from another thread) Besides what are you bitching about, you get $150 desiel rebate, that should about cover it, give or take (as in you give we take )

Are you saying farms can't survive without the wheat board? I'm saying the Wheat Board is a farmer controlled board, for the farmers, that is under attack by the Conservative government. Are you saying the oil patch can't survive dion's tax?

Oh I think Dalton still has some explaining to do, particually how his cap and trade is going to mix and match with Dion's beast.
