Dont think you can join the military but you can have health care and welfare and demand your fucking rights and try and change the system and suck every dollar you can out of what ever government is stupid enough to give it to you.. there shouldnt be a permanent resident status. Immigrate do the time and become a citizen and if you arent willing to do that.. go home.

Permanent resident is a step towards citizenship.

It's sorta like a 3 year purgatory, if you fuck up (get in trouble with the law) or become a public charge, you are suppose to lose your Permanent resident status.

If I remember correctly, 50% of the time when your have temporary status can be used towards the 3 year period.
