The Chinese government promised specific freedoms as conditions of their getting the games and now they are backing away from that deal. That's definately not an honorable position.

Explain why those two are even related? A democratic country doesn't mean it won't have crime

I'm sure China would be thrilled to export some of it's mobile murder vans. It's so much easier to put down those pesky criminals and political upstarts because then you can claim that you don't have any prisoners, unlike that mean old USA.
And as a side benefit, those old fossils who run China can live forever with the stolen organs.
