Where are all these people going to work? Not just in Canada or the USA but around the world? As China continues on it's path their wages will rise, employers will use more automation, people will be laid off...
Machines in the tarsands will become more automated, GPS guided, electronic sensors for everything and anything, eliminating the need for peoples eyes, hands and minds...

Where will everyone work in 50 years? Parking lot attendants? No very likely, most parking lots have automated kiosks now and will probably accept your debit card soon...
