When do we start taxing Natives? Never? Then tell them to shut the fuck up and work. If Italian Canadians were exempt from taxes, they would own half of the country's infrastructure and control the damn government.

Half of us indians don't live on a reserve, and let me know what jobs there are on reserve where we can work tax exempt? Your bold statement above leads me to believe that you think none of us pay taxes, when in fact perhaps 5-10% of indians are lucky enough to fir into the narrow exemption you posted above.

Furthermore, Paul Martin saved millions and millions by registering his ships (for example) offshore. Why shouldn't us indians take advantage of tax loopholes too?

Oh and you must of missed the no sales, motor fuel, and other taxes on the reserves as well.

Seems to me we wanted to start our own businesses but we couldn't because it was not allowed.

I wanted you to point out when "I" don't have to pay tax, because it seems to me that a statement like "when will Indians start paying taxes" implies that I do not.
I pay taxes. Lot of them. So do millions of other Indians. In fact, in 2002 we paid 8 billion in federal taxes alone. How do I know this? Because when the SCC was asked to debate the Benoit case the CBC asked Revenue Canada how many tax dollars they would lose if all Indians did not have to pay tax. The answer was 8 billion.

I'm going to write to Vladimir Putin to see if he'll fund my law suit of Italy. The Romans built civilization across my tribe's traditional territories and I should be compensated. I mean, so what if they introduced rule of law over patriarchal tribalism, built roads instead of the mud tracks we loved, water supply systems instead of drinking the dirty water we were used to, plumbing instead of crapping anywhere we liked, reading and writing (which was a lot of work and i'm still bitter), not to mention all that boring art, music and poetry and all that stuff we never knew about and could care less. We were much happier living in our animal hide tents and living day to day on subsistance hunting and gathering. We had no potential or expectations ourselves so why push "civilization" on us? I mean it was just sheer luck those bastard Romans found us anyway when they were "exploring" the world and growing as a people.
Mr. Putin has a track record of providing subsidized "everything" for "everyone". All I need to do is to go back to the way my tribe lived a thousand years ago, no potential or expectations ourselves and let someone else think, do, and act for me!!! whoo hoo it's gonna be great!! I better call Phil Fontaine about it first though cause there's no reason I can't make a little folding money along the way and he's making great $$$ doing the same thing man!!
