Anyways, sasq has a way of quoting a partial post and then making a comment that would make it appear as if the quoted said something they didn't....

It's a practice I picked up from the GWers so it must be kosher.

By that reasoning, at least 25% of the people already driving on the road should no longer be driving.

That is perhaps a little low it is likely closer to 45-50% IMHO.

Also, the ZENN looks no smaller than a SMART car and those are allowed on highways...so my original comments in their entirety still stand...if the top speed can be increased to 60 kph with adequate acceleration then I see no reason why they can't be allowed on city streets where speed limits are 60 kph and lower.

I question the wisdom of allowing SMART cars on the streets. They would lose an argument with a cyclist. In reality the SMART car is a weather proofed version of a touring motorcycle.

These are only allowed in low speed areas. Anywhere where the speed limit is 50km is perfectly fine for this type of vehicle.

So now you want touring motorcycles banned?

I don't get it. A scooter is okay but these things aren't?

A scooter doesn't take up the width of an entire lane of traffic.

It sure as hell does! If everybody is obeying the rules, that is.

You can guarantee some people will be hitting the fast lanes with them....like the deerfoot. 8O That would be interesting.

They physically don't take up as much space. You could put two scooters in the space that one car could fit into.

They let those on the roads then I should be able to drive my quad on the road. 8)

I saw this story on Daily Planet on the Discovery Channel. Thought it was ironic that it's made here but can't be used here.

Good question.

Seems like Transport Canada is in league with the insurance companies.
Think about it. You come up to a scooter on the side of the road and you can pass it. What about a vehicle the size of a golf cart? If it can't keep up with the flow it's definately a traffic hazzard.

Aging_Redneck Aging_Redneck:
no need for that kind of price. An electric motor greatly simpliries the design and manufacture of a car.

Perhaps but they don't have a production chain as big as Honda's. So producing one car costs more in labor and such and other car companies probably use better technology on their production chain.

I feel it should be allowed on the roads. I agree with speeding it up to 60, but even at 40 in the inner cities it would actually fit most speed limit (30-50).

I like the argument that it's safer for walkers, I myself make huge use of walking, running, rollerblading and the bus in winter. I stopped counting the near misses from wreckless drivers. (As a side note, I don't want a car because I prefer to invest my money while I'm still young instead of wasting it on a car that I don't really need!)

It would also be ridiculously cheap to maintain one in Quebec, electricity is more cost-efficient than fuel here.

This company should be encouraged, you don't often hear about Canadians performing in the car industry. I mean wouldn't it be nice if in 20 years we were the leaders in electric cars?
