if the people are too sick or to mentally ill to work, then they should eb to ill to protest. It's the homeless protesters who are perfectly capable that I and the majority of people take shots at, not the people who are to sick or drugged up too know any better.

ridenrain.. I hope you never become addicted to anything or become seriously ill with a disease with no cure.. when you are down so low you have no hope no motivation to get one of these plentiful easy jobs as you say.. you might have some compassion.. I hope that you never lose a job or a person that you become depressed ... lets hope sorrow never knocks on your door.... Cheers.

He is though. Its either crack or PCP, I haven't discouvered which yet. (could be heavy metal poisoning though)

As for compassion... well it is in abundance. Just look at his compassion for the people we are bombing.

Perhaps if the military were allowed to bomb to poorer aspects of Canadian society then he would care because he talks a massive "we care" game on other fronts.

Its too bad he doesn't actually care about anybody not being actively hit by military hardware.

no interview required. I myself have walked by a construction site looking rather shabby, and the first thing that happened before i could even take a picture of the tower going up was a guy asking me if I was looking for a job. they're in incredibly desperate need and don't care who you are or what you look like.

If after 2 weeks you prove yourself to be a complete idiot or a lazy bastard, you'll get kicked off. but looks and presentation don't count for alot in Vancouver's job market anymore. they want you more than you want the job.

Try working with a mental illness....see how well you fair in the job market.

and for those of you who dont know what a street nurse does.. we were paid by an agency but there were nurses who volunteered on their day off......

Its amazing how many people not in healthcare post such uncaring and stony nonesense then have the gall to comment on the very healthcare system provided by people who contradict them.

 Fuckwits.

It's not them I'm mad at, they can't help themselves. But the other bums who do nothing can.

So what is society to do when someone loses the purpose for life? When people become so addicted and lose such hope and value of life, are they still independant citizens or should they be put into a cage?
We used to be able to put these people in care but now that's against their charter rights. They are free to walk among the living as drug animated zombies. They hold nothing sacred and value nothing except themselves and their own needs, and an industry has developed around them.

Come on down to East Vancouvera and we'll go on a pub crall. It's possibly the worst place in all of Canada.

there is no possibility, it IS by far the worst place in Canada, if not North America as a whole. Place is a real hell-hole.

You know what I'm talking about then. I lived on the perimeter of East Van, near by Broadway and Commercial for about 8 years.

If the closest you've been to East van is "the national", you have no clue or credability.

Oh how your compassion fades when you can't support military action eh?

Have you ever walked a long term ward in a hospital?

have you ever had to take blood for elderly Canadians who have all but been abandoned by their families or dela with families so grief stricken that they can't afford a nursing home they can barely look you in the eye when you ask them for medical histories of their elderly parents?

No you haven't have you.

Yet you bitch about things you known nothing about.

Hoe about the psych wards? People turffed to us "to sort out" because society won't deal with them.

I had a patient threaten to "bash my skull in" if I stuck him with a needle to draw blood. Luckily I am under no obligation to force a patient so I just left.

A fellow MLT got slugged. She took 2 months off with a broken jaw.

What the fuck do you know?

You don't.

Sooften they are so jaded and pissed off by the time they get to us that they trust no one and expect mistreatment. Its because of people like you.

Congrats.

Why not show even a little bit of your so called compassion to your fellow Canadians.

Why not?

Derby: have you been to East Van?

Addicts do not act of their own free will, or through moral guidelines. They will do anything and everything, and burn anyone to get what they want. They shouldn't be free because the damage they do harms far roo many.
They need to be taken out of that enviroment and rehabilitated , reguardless of what their rights allow them them. The alterantve is to let them follow their path, harm countless others and poison the community.

Have you been to jane & finch?

Have you ever had to draw blood from an elderly Candian asking where her son was?

Have you ever had to draw blood from somebody that 3 jail guards had to be present for?

have you ever drawn blood from a patient so disoriented they don't know where they are yet you must finish?

Have you ever gone to the ward to do your job only to walk in on a patient being attended by their family as they died?

I doubt you have lived in the east end of vancouver and I have no doubt you haven't got the experience I do to comment.

Anything more?

Perhaps about the things I said before?

Anything?

I wrote out a reply and a terort of the misery of what I've suffered in my life but in reflection, it's my misery and I don't care to share it with you. My life is my property and I'll be damned if you expect me to justify or explain it to the world.
Who I am and what I've done, or who you are and what you've done isn't the dividing line in an internet argument. Claiming I was mother teresa and washed the sores of lepers isn't going to make you believe what I say, or make my words any more credable.
That said, I believe you ave seen some misery in the occupation that you're trying to beat me with. it sounds ugly and I'm sorry you and anyone else had to go through that.

All that being said, the addicts of East Van have had a great deal of attention yet they are as resolute and prominant as ever. Vancouver has tried to placate them for over a decade and it's no better now than it ever has been. The only good that might come from the Governor General being heckled is that it may draw attention to this problem.

That reply was aimed at Derby but I'll stand behind it.

What can we do with them? Keeping them in the same enviroment isn't helping anyone and they are not getting the help they need.

That was a fairly disgusting display but it's sadly typical of the far left. There's no doubt that these were the sort of professional protestors of the sort that interrupt events like the G-8 meetings.

Round 'em up and process them as required. I hear we're running out of soylent green and we need some fresh stuff anyhow. Those fatter "activists" looked well fed and rather tasty, so why not?
