Seems like CBC is trying to spin this to be negative.

I agree...

And the woman needs some treatment :?

Yep she does...Its called Suicide by Cop...Seen it quite a few times at work...someone is stopped from killing themselves, see the cops, see a perfect opportunity to die...the cops always tackle and ship them off to psych. And charges are usually laid under the Mental Health act or the person cant be 'pinked' until a psychiatrist sees them. They are charged and held under that because they are a harm to themselves and others.

Why all the fuss.. It's not like the Police have a legal limit on the number of perps they take down a week. It's not like deer season.

Delwin Delwin:
Doesn't this sound suspicious to anyone else ? Two shootings by the police within a week in a place like Saskatchewan and in both cases each suspect was wielding two knives ? It seems like an amazing coincidence to me. Not just that both suspects in were stupid enough to approach the police with knives, but that both suspects were armed with two knives. Is their an unusual number of ambidextrous people in Saskatchewan?

Also, why didn't the witness hear the shots ?
Know anything about knives?

Sure been using them since I was about 3, but those were plastic, I didn't start using metal ones till I was about 6, I guess there was a bit of a risk factor in my parents view. Still got all my fingers though.

Any knife manufacturer worth it's salt makes knives that are ambidextrous.

I think the point was that both people were carrying 2 knives... not that they could bve carried in either hand.
A lot of people who have EDC knives will carry multiple. I've heard of people carrying up to 4 or 5 knives at once.

It still seemed a bit odd that there were two incident in which both suspects chose to arm themselves with two knives. The more I think about it, the more it sounds like the second story may have been influenced by the first one.

It could be a case of a copycat "suicide by police" as was mentioned previously on the thread.

I am sure the first story was a pretty big news article and the second suspect may have taken the view that it was a good way to end their life so they created a situation that was similar to the big news story they had seen only days earlier to try to attempt to ensure that they would obtain a similar result.

That's all that I was noting.

Every Day Carry. Even fixed blades are easily concealed. I saw a video a while back of a guy wearing a regular T-shirt with 2 folded and 2 fixed blade knives concealed. Not hard to do.

If you attack police with knives they will shoot you, its a simple rule, like no running with scissors or never bring a knife to gun fight

The problem is that with all the media hyped negative publicity surrounding taser use it is likely that more people will be getting shot instead of tasered.

These two officers involved in this shooting were both Constables. Most Canadian Police Services only issue tasers to sergeants.
