For fuck sakes can't you just let those women rest in peace. If you can't just honor the intent of the day, how about just shutting the fuck up

I agree, but the forum wannabe intelligentsia (read: tinfoil hat terds) see conspiracy and a chance to push their ideological dogma. This idiots and their goof-off conclusions need to be challenged

I don't think there is an Icelandic word for 'Hockey Puck', so "baseball bat" will have to do.

Lepine was a Catholic (not a Muslim)

I've never seen any evidence to demonstrate that Lepine was an active Catholic or a Muslim. His mother is oft cited as a practicing Catholic but Lepine himself was never shown to be an active member of any parish or mosque.

He was a misogyinst nutbag and I'd blame his father for that, but no one else.

Dayseed Dayseed:

Bart,

Don't be so disingenuous. The very article you cite also says: Lépine was born Gamil Rodrigue Gharbi, the son of Algerian immigrant Rachid Liass Gharbi and Canadian Monique Lépine, in Montreal and was baptized a Catholic as an infant.

By all accounts, Lepine's father was an asshole, but I haven't read an article yet that stated he was a Muslim asshole. With a whopping 99% of Algeria being Muslim, it's a safe bet. But, thanks to the French, there's Catholics in Algeria too. Wait a titsch, maybe THAT explains how his father came to be married to a French Roman-Catholic!

Just an idea for you all, especially Truckersquatch2, to deal with.

Moving on, nothing in Lepine's madness was based on Islam. He was just an asshole misogynist with a rifle and a life that lasted one day too long.

I was baptized a Catholic, too. And I'm every bit as Catholic as Lepine was. Which, is to say, not very.

It's too bad the Catholicism didn't take hold in his life as he may have turned out different.

I think they say "Jökulhlaup" instead of 'hockey puck'.

My inclusion of his religious upbring was to counter samsquantch's idiotic notion that this killing had to with Islamofascism. I don't put any importance on the religious angle either, but as usual, the mess had to be corrected.

I wanted to stay with the Icelandic theme. ;)

But my Icelandic is, well, lacking.
