Taxthis, I think you talk bull.

The article The article:
Amlin said the ambulance, according to well-established protocol, received a police escort to the tunnel entrance with several intersections blocked off to help speed the trip. Tunnel traffic was shut down and, after the ambulance arrived at the border crossing, a tunnel company pickup truck with flashing lights, led it to a designated U.S. Customs lane where it was supposed to be waved through.

"We have a system set up. We are to be pre-cleared and no problems," Amlin said.

This officer was an ass. IF it was a random check, he should have overruled it. period.

ROTFL

and 3 minutes is not long when you are fighting for your life?

Keep your insults and insinuations to yourself okay? I THINK is a bit different than "what I say is true", right?

It is just ridiculous an ambulance with police escort is stopped.

Ass.

You are gonna fit into this country perfectly brenda....Don't blame your new country on not being able to take care of its citizens..Just keep paying your taxes, shut up and point your finger at the bad guys south of the border for not taking care of you..

The ambulance was escorted by a tunnel utility vehicle..Get your head out of the Enquirer.................

Dummy

Well, thank you honey ;-)

I would blame any border patrol officer, no matter what country from, if he made a stupid mistake like this. This time, it happened to be an American. So? Who cares?

Lucky for me, I have no experience with the Canadian Health Care System, and I am trying to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Moron ;-)

This is like an Abbot & Costello routine. It was not the fault of an individual but a problem with protocol..And every one does cares. Talking about life and death usually gets attention. Like that Polish man that was killed by the rcmp on your side of the country..In that case protocol was not followed..He was murdered by cowboys in my opinion.....

If you have not already noticed there is a strong anti American sentiment here, even more than your former country..So a situation like the ambulance thing just flames it...I am sure the govt likes to fuel this too, so to keep the canadians from really seeing how little they get for what is payed out by them....And you might want to take a number now for when you do have to deal with the medical system so as to get a better place in line.

moemoe

Yes, of course I have noticed there is a strong anti-American sentiment among Canadians. But... I am not Canadian, and smart enough to think for myself ;-)

For the medical system... Do you think it is any better in Holland? I don't. They have 17 million people in a small country, and people go to Belgium or Germany for treatment, if the insurance (that is very expensive...) covers it. If it doesn't, well, your loss, you wait in line. 7 weeks for open heart surgery or something... 10 for placing a stent in your artery. 6 months for non-life threatening surgery. And that sucks. BIG TIME.

Fatty...

Who's Barney?

Well, the guy is still alive, but that is not because of the Border Patrol...

Anyway, I chose not to live in the big city for a reason, so I don't think the lines will be that long here

I don't know how and what with the Canadian Health System, as I said before, I am still in my waiting period for BC health ;-) If you say it sucks, I will trust you on that on your beautiful blue eyes, but that still doesn't change my mind about the border patrol.

wacko

As much as I agree with you that the situation you are in sucks big time, this is not a thread about Canada's health system. But it sucks, and it should not happen this way, period.

$1:
The duty of a border patrol is to protect their country before protecting a foreigner period...

Sure, but haven't they talked about situations like this, and made some agreements about it? It has to go both ways though...

You know more about the system here than your letting on.

When you live out in the sticks you phone your backwoods Dr's office at 8:00 am, can usually see him before noon. Have blood test done at the backwoods hospital after lunch. If you have something serious you get a phone call by 3:00 pm to get back to the hospital for another test. If that proves positive, your in a big city hospital in time for supper. All the while our city friends are still stuck in the emergency department or are waiting 2 weeks to see their family Dr.

The situation is that canada does not take care of its people..As for going both ways, if canada were to restrict Americans from coming over here it would have an economical effect on this country. It would definitely
sink windsor thats for sure..Or are we not to talk about that here either.....
Ok Ok bad bad Americans, for not overriding their laws to help the under privileged canadian...Again..

donkey smell

Windsor is the only border crossing in Canada, eh? ;-)

So what you are saying basically, is that America has every right to keep the country close to shut for Canadians, but if Canada does the same to Americans, Canada is going bankrupt? I don't believe that for a second.
