Guess this is the official start for the death-watch for Erin O'Toole's leadership, considering the membership just openly rejected his call for change in the party that he made at the beginning of the convention.

CDN_PATRIOT CDN_PATRIOT: DrCaleb DrCaleb: Good. Time to focus on real issues, not crap put out by globalists to squeeze money out of everyone. -J. Imagine that, something involving science you demonstrate a complete inability to understand. Who would have guessed.

Yup it’s Jean Charest all over again. A leader who wants to move his party in a new direction and membership that refuses to budge. Hope the Alberta and Saskatchewan Reform Party holdouts enjoy life on the backbench as the official opposition.
And if they pull their hair out over another term of Trudeau as PM they’ll have only themselves to blame.

And another thing. Don’t these clods realize they’re just giving Trudeau and the Liberals another Krupp sized cannon to use against them? Just say that they believe in it and then just give it lip service on the off chance they ever form government again.

Or a base that is dug in like ticks to their dogma.
He can say they are taking science seriously all he wants but until they do more than virtue signal they are not fooling anyone.

Hasn't worked yer so they've gotta do it over and over and over and over like smashing walls with your head works.

I see the CKA echo chamber is working as intended. The sky is falling and only the great reset can save you, or, possibly the government.

Two points are worth making here:
1) Conservatives like Jack Mintz and Preston Manning were some of the early advocates for carbon pricing as a means of reducing carbon emissions. Even if you don't believe climate change is real, reducing the amount of pollution in the air is something I'd think every political party can get behind.
2) Lots of people were mad when Teck Frontier decided against its mine in northern Alberta, but in their letter explaining the decision Teck Frontier said that one of the main reasons they nixed the mine was because of their concern about things like a lack of a carbon price in Alberta. Whether we like it or not, investors and customers are increasingly demanding measures like these. Alberta is supposed to be a market-friendly province, but it seems to me like we're actively ignoring what the market wants.

I put that one on block a long time ago and haven't regretted it at all.

Actually, I'm glad they did. Climate extremists stopped listening to scientists a long time ago. But they claim scientists agree with them. Actual real scientists are shocked when they see what climate extremists are claiming; it's completely wrong. Yes, climate change is real, but extremists have grossly exaggerated and over simplified. And climate extremists have become a cult: they won't tolerate anyone who dares challenge the religious doctrine of their cult! Anyone who disagrees with any tiny little bit of their religious doctrine is accused of being a "denier". Cite actual real science sources, they don't care.
Liberal politicians have fallen pray to the cult of climate change. Perhaps Conservatives will listen to actual real scientists. Yes, that means carbon tax is not going to do anything. It's just a tax grab. It needs to go.
There's a larger issue. Taxes on average working Canadians has increased continuously since Confederation. It's a major problem. Number of taxes as well as total tax load. Paul Martin started to reduce tax, but Stephen Harper refused to cut tax for working Canadians, instead deeply cut taxes for corporations. We need to fix that.

A Carbon tax would do absolutely nothing to reduce pollution, or fund new measures to do the same. Taxes on Sulphur Dioxide didn't stop acid rain. In fact, we should reduce taxes on the richest people some more, in hopes that they will spend more and the rest of us will earn some back. /s This is why Conservatives are unelectable.
